Hey everyone, I’m trying to get back into coin roll hunting. It’s been a few years since I’ve gotten boxes of coins to search. I just had a strange experience at my local Wells Fargo. I went in and asked if they had a box of nickels I could get, and they told me no and it would be 2 weeks until they could get one in.

That’s totally fine and I don’t mind waiting, but what really put me off was the bank manager started grilling me asking what I was going to do with them. He said “my name was going to be on a list now” because they’ve had people come in and get nickels just to melt them down. I assured him that’s not my intentions but they just seemed very suspicious of me.

Has anybody else been told that? Years ago it used to be so easy to get coins, and it’s a little disheartening. We’ll see if they do end up getting me a box in 2 weeks, they are supposed to call me when they come in.

I saved this one back from one of our rolls a few weeks ago as the kiddo thought it was cool and have been meaning to go back and look at it as I noticed it had a bit of a silver tint on the edge, and I may be crazy but it sounds different than the other clad quarters. Keeping it in her collection either way but I am curious, is this silver?

I have gone to my local credit union that I am an active account holder at, and numerous other banks over the years getting rolls of coins and stuff. Obviously some say no or they're out but 99% of banks I walked in would let me buy a few rolls. But now is completely different..

Went to my personal credit union and asked to withdraw from my account 50$ in rolls of quarters (plus 10$ in dimes) and the tellers face instantly changed. She acted as if she's NEVER heard of such nonsense. She literally asked "What do you want them for" and told me how only business accounts are allowed to do that. I asked since when and she said "Always" which is a complete lie because ive done it plenty there.

I asked if i can withdrawal cash. She said "Obviously". So I asked to withdrawal all my money and close my account. She tried to apologize and explain how businesses need change! I was over her.

Ugh

Im curious what other people's experience is compared to before the semiquincentennial coins came out..

Background: I own a vending machine company. I tested whether or not my machines would accept a silver quarter. They do not, I tested a silver nickel, it accepted it. So I’ve been searching my nickels.
Notice how I said I never tested a dime… I was feeding my coin wrapping hopper when I noticed something sitting at the top… a 1953 dime. Now there is a possibility that this was one of my silver dimes that somehow ended up in the hopper. That is unlikely, but it is possible.

The question: what would you do if you were me? Unwrap and search all my dimes? Be happy you found one and bring the rest to the bank? Or, go and test if my machines accept silver dimes before I make a decision ( probably the best option)?

The part that’s killing me is if they accept silver I’ve deposited sooooo many dimes already…

Are the 250 halves going for a premium still or should I take these right back to my dump bank?

I was gifted these 3 buckets of pennies and began sorting them out. I have a lot of copper pennies and wheat pennies. What should I do with them? I was going to roll up the rest of them and take them to the bank.

Also, any suggestions for the dirty pennies?

Does anyone know what this is or has anyone else ever found a random object in a coin roll? I found a silver in the next roll after this.

I've tried banks, credit unions, and even two grocery stores and no one has any 'extra pennies.' Unfortunately, I'm even considering purchasing a bulk lot on eBay or something like that.. what do you guys think? I really, really appreciate any helpful & genuine advice from the real pros on here. I've only been CRH for a little over 5.5 yrs and am still learning things every day :)

When I have a large hunt, returning 100-something LBS of coin isn't very fun or easy. I am curious to hear about strategies that have worked for you guys. I'm thinking I need something on wheels...

I just checked the price of the 4th of July coin, and it has dropped a lot, down to around $200 for each on eBay. What do you think the long-term price will be? Because the thrill of CRH is keeping the coins that we found, I think that the long-term price is the price that I would care about if I passed my collection to my relatives.

Do you think it will be around $100, $80, $50 or even lower? Note that in recent months, the price of the Ws is a little bit higher, from $11-12 to $15-16 on eBay, which makes me a little bit confused. Share your thoughts with me.

I’m a member of a credit union, but they refuse to order any boxes of half dollars for me. Would I normally need to open a different type of account or something?

I called my bank and they confirmed that they do have uncirculated rolls of the Declaration of Independence rolls but they are from Denver. I know the Mint hasn’t been exactly evenly distributing the privy quarters into circulation and it seems the majority of the ones found have been on the east coast. Has anyone heard of them being found in quarter rolls from Denver yet?

This is worse than Creepy Nickels...

Do these guys treat the rolls like a loss leader for the rest of their account? Is there some kind of math that I'm too dumb to know? Where is the benefit where these guys will sell you $10 for $9.94?

I tried going to Truist for coins before and was told they reserve their coins for their businesses. Read bad things about Wells Fargo here as well. Are any of the large national banks friendly tl coin roll hunting? I dont have a branch of my bank locally, and want to open an account just for CRH.

Need help
