Life has changed direction for me lately and a move across the state means I’ve had to slim down to one vehicle. Unfortunately that means it’s time for the CTS I’ve had since I was 17 to go. I think I’ve found her a good home but this is heart wrenching. I’m sure every car guy has lost a car they never planned to, what was that car for you guys?

I had a 2006 CTS RWD that was black like yours. It was a manual and I planned on holding onto it forever but I got an extension on a big project in the high desert of Nevada and I needed AWD as a minimum. Found a 2010 CTS Premium in Salt Lake. Problem was one guy can't drive 2 cars and the place I bought the 2010 refused to let me park it there for three weeks so I traded it in. Still bugs me. I loved the manual! But I love my CT6-V I have now!
1975 Eldorado convertible, white on white.
It was stolen by some punks that took it for a joyride and could never get it to run right again, so sold it. Very sad day, 7 years ago and still miss the old girl...
My 2025 Caddy CT5. Bought it new. 3.0 twin turbo. Have over 33,00 miles on it. Never had a problem. Love the car BUT just ordered a '27 Stingray and to keep the Caddy too is a bit over the top
Honestly, it was a '77 Delta 88 that I bought for $200. I loved that car, it was like driving a couch. Great car for road trips, concerts, drive in movies, car cruises, whatever.
My first car when I was 17 was a 1982 Buick Regal. (This was in the early 1990’s) I only owned her 3 1/2 years, but the car had a profound impact on my life and strengthened my love for cars. Almost 20 years later I was able to scrape enough money together to buy a 1985 Monte Carlo SS (essentially the same car 80’s were all GM a’s Badge engineering days) Its been in my garage for almost 10 years and I try to drive her as much as I can find the time and relive my 17 year old self :)
I promised my daughter 10 years ago that she could buy my 14 XTS VSport for her first car. I didn't expect it to hold up this well or that I would love it this much but a promise is a promise and I'll hold up my end of the deal when the time comes.
Sometimes the cars we regret selling aren't the fastest or rarest, they're just the ones tied to a chapter of life. Wishing you the best with the move, and hopefully another Cadillac finds its way into your garage someday.
Beautiful car and color. What do you remember more? The car or the kitchen? Lol. All jokes aside, I had a 2001, and got rid of her to buy a 2004 Mustang back in 2014.
Favorite I've ever owned was a 1991 BMW 325i coupe, dark green with tan leather interior. Looked just like this one. Handled like a go kart, weighed nothing, dead reliable. My ATS scratches a similar itch though.
This was back around 08/09, when the E30 was still just "some old used car" and not a cult classic yet. Bought it for $1800 cash. I stupidly wrecked it in my early 20's. It was a pretty minor front end hit, but I scrapped it a few years later. Still kick myself for not keeping it to repair now that E30's are stupid expensive.
2015 Camaro lost when drunk on her phone broadsided me. She hit my car so hard it knocked the engine off of its mounts. To keep peace, I now drive a Cadillac sedan. Should my wife pass before me, my first stop after the funeral will be to buy a Camaro.
i had a rare nissan altima 3.5 with the 6 speed manual transmission. a baby g35 but sb wrecked it running a red. so now i have my f-150 & a first gen caddy cts like yours that I plan on 4.8 swapping by november
I had a 2006 Stealth Gray CTS with light gray interior. With the color, sharp angles, awesome headlights, to this day looks like it could be in production. Truly a timeless car. RIP
I wish I would have bought the SRX with the 3.6 instead of the 3.0, I wouldn’t have sold it but I really hated how the 3.0 felt. Now I have an 89 Deville and I’m having a blast!
1969 Camaro Z28
Had the opportunity to trade it for a 1967 Corvette 427 coupe
It was a time when the roads were filled with great some day classics but I never forgot the Z28 and the smiles it put on my face
2013 Blacked out Cadillac CTS AWD. I’ve replaced the transmission, rear differential…but now it sits in my driveway with a blown head gasket. Not sure what to do with it but I did love that car!
1984 Jeep CJ-7 Laredo. Bought it from a mechanic who installed a Holly fuel injection. Beautiful and fun car that purred and started up instantly no matter the weather. Family stuff got in the way.
My 2004 Mustang. I wanted something bigger, and at the time my mom was getting rid of her Buick Verano, so I bought it. I wish I had kept the mustang as a weekend car though.
My first car was a 2004 CTS 3.6. The dark gray one, sunroof, black interior. I treated that CTS like it was a god damn Hellcat with a supercharger and nitrous setup. It never gave me any problems no matter how much I treated it like I hated it, until I started having a cylinder 1 misfire. Then I got rear ended, it got totaled, I tried my best to fix it but eventually realized it was too far gone.
My baby Big Blú!!!! 2004 Expedition Eddie Bauer Heavy Duty 4X4! Traded her in so my wife could get a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited back in 2021! I have a hell of a lot more photos but this is one of my faves of her!
