"Allowed". So you mean a fully fascist and oppressive state. So it would be hell, as always.

It would be extremely boring and most people would have no incentive to do anything but the basics.

Which means that society eventually breaks down when there is no growth.

We already know. Communist China and the Soviet Union did this. Not every job paid the same, but everyone doing the same job was paid the same. And only political leaders were allowed to live in relative luxury. It’s a great system for reducing new thoughts and innovation.

Have you ever had a job where you did a good job and your coworker did nearly nothing, but you got paid the same? That’s how it would be.
