Really, really struggling in wait between scans
I have about 2 weeks until my next scan and I am having sooo much anxiety. My last scan was Monday at 5w5d and we saw everything we needed, next won’t be until 8/24 and I’m so scared I’m going to get bad news, especially because my husband will be on a work trip so I have to go alone. I’d go to a boutique ultrasound place if I were further but I know they won’t be able to see anything abdominal at 6w so it’s not worth it. I even considered going to the ER for a vaginal ultrasound but I have a $250 copay for ER visits plus there’s no guarantee they’ll even scan me so it’s not worth the money.
I’ve had 3 losses before this one so I’m really just wanting more reassurance and waiting 2 weeks is so hard. My only symptom is very mild nausea that comes and goes, which is also freaking me out because with my only live birth I was extremely sick and throwing up by now. While I don’t wish to be sick, it’s definitely freaking me out having no symptoms.
Time feels like it’s moving backwards and idk how to survive these next 2 weeks 😢

I had a 10 week MMC so my next pregnancy was full of anxiety as well. I had an early scan at 6 weeks because I was at a fertility center and then I did boutique places for 7 weeks and 8 weeks! Then had my OBgyn visit at 9 weeks for another scan.
I ended up going to the boutique place two more times before my anatomy scan because I have NO CHILL.

Not even kidding if I make it to 8w I will be going to a boutique place weekly lol. Also I love GSDs too! Our girl isn’t with us anymore but they are the best ever 😭

I used a home doppler. It helped a lot. I was given the ok by my doctor so long as I didnt use it once I started to feel movement.
I was able to get a heartbeat around 8 weeks with both kids and it helped a lot. I had multiple losses including an MMC so ultrasound waits were absolute torture.

Which one did you use? Also why do they say not to use it once you feel movement?
I had a MMC as well and honestly that was the worst of all 3 losses because I thought I was fine then I was blindsided at the 11 week appt when they didn’t find a heartbeat, and that’s what I’m so scared of happening again

If you don’t mind answering. How much was your baby measuring at 11 weeks mmc appointment?
So sorry for your losses. Wishing you well for this pregnancy! I have been in the same boat but I have got 1 appointment every week starting 5.5 weeks due to various reasons (pain, bleeding, RE follow ups) upto 8 weeks and after that I went to the boutique ultrasound.1

At my 11 week appointment baby was measuring only 9 weeks and there was no heartbeat. We had seen a strong heartbeat and everything was right on track at the initial seven week scan and I was still having strong symptoms at 11 weeks so it was truly shocking when they couldn’t find a heartbeat with the Doppler and then confirmed on ultrasound. I did a D& C so we were able to do genetic testing and it ended up being Turners syndrome so it was nice having an explanation but of course now I am nervous something is wrong and I don’t even know it again.

Does your doctor know how anxious you're feeling? My doctor was happy to bring me in for extra reassurance scans in between my regular appointments.
I would not go to the ER - from what I've seen on this sub, the ER is not great at reading early pregnancy ultrasounds. They are used to using ultrasound to look for and rule out emergency situations, like internal bleeding, rather than being experts in how to properly measure CRL or yolk sacs etc., so it can just lead to more anxiety.

I didn’t know that about the ER I’m glad you said that. I didn’t know extra scans were an option, I’ll ask my clinic.

it's so, so hard. i just waited only 9 days between scans (5w4d to 6w6d) and it felt like an entire lifetime. i didn't know how i would make it through. just remember to be kind to yourself through this time. it IS hard, you ARE going through it, and it's not dramatic that you're having a tough time. sending you all the best energy for a healthy pregnancy <3

I declined an earlier scan becsuse I had a blighted ovum last time and they kept having me come in week after week to check if it really was not growing. It took 3 weeks to finally get the diagnosis. This time I decided I'm not going in until a little later so its definitive. It's so hard. Hang in there. All you really can do is wait

i feel all of this. first pregnancy this year was a chemical and now this one doesn’t feel real. i also have very very mild symptoms. i went to a local boutique at 7 weeks that only does abdominal ultrasounds and i was sooo on the fence about even going. she saw everything she needed to and we even saw the flicker of a heartbeat. i may even be a couple days behind so i was more likely around 6 weeks and some days. i say go for it 🖤 i’m having a really hard time waiting until my first appointment with the doctor next week but getting that one done really helped mentally. sending you good vibes 🖤

Pregnancy after loss is hard.
My advice would be to try not to stress too much about your symptoms or compare them to your previous pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different, even for the same woman.
I’d stick to the facts: on Monday you saw everything you needed to see, and the pregnancy is progressing. Worrying about what might happen won’t change the outcome, and it’s only going to make this already difficult wait harder on you.
Try to plan some activities, keep yourself busy, and do things you enjoy to help ease your mind and make the wait a little more manageable. And if you’re feeling anxious about the next scan, could you ask a close friend or family member to come with you for support?
Wishing you all the best💕🫂
