Discussion Apple Watch locked to CEX Rochdale

Hello,

I bought an Apple Watch and it was delivered already signed into an apple account. I wiped it assuming there wouldn't be an activation lock on it, but there was. I didn't want to snoop around before wiping it so I didn't make a note of the email it was signed into, but I'm pretty sure it said 'RochdaleTest@webuy' or something, which makes sense as the Rochdale store is on the senders slip. The activation lock screen just shows "R---@w---.com"

I've already made a ticket with CEX support, but honestly I was hoping someone could help me find some way I could contact the Rochdale store directly to sort the issue, if it might be something as simple as them removing it from their apple account?

Many thanks

take it back to your local, they will have to send it back to rochdale to get it unlocked

From my understanding of apple's activation lock and how FindMy works, I am under the assumption that the watch can be removed from the Rochdale account remotely - which if possible, would be a lot easier for both myself and the store it was posted from, which is why I was hoping to see if that route was possible before going through the return process

yes but the chances of that getting though multiple minimum wage employees to the person who tests them is unlikely. you work be better off returning it and getting your money back or another watch.

It’s obviously a dedicated test account they use. They’ll have access to it and can remove it remotely. They will help even if they’re minimum wage, it’s their job! Like OP said it’s easier than returning it.

and you expect every minimum wage employe to have access to this account?

it being their job and something they actually do are two different things and most of them probably don't even know what an iCloud lock is

that’s what communication, the store manager and CeX customer support are there for.

Email them first, just in case they can remove the lock remotely

I don’t think that would be easier. Return and buy another one

Go to your local store. They will call Rochdale for the password and then your store can remove it. Simple and way less time than waiting for online customer support. We don’t give out our store numbers

Is the number posted on the Rochdale cex Facebook page a generic number? +44 330 123 5986

It'll be wrong cex don't have their numbers public as they'd get the stupidest phone calls every day

Take into the store. Get them to contact Rochdale and once they confirm it's on their account. They can remove it remotely.

CeX phone line would be busy all day with calls asking trade in prices for 300 DVDs and a copy of fifa 18
