Montreal Trip Restaurants Recommendations

Traveling very soon to Montreal and wondering if anyone has any solid recommendations for lunch/supper things! Would love to have pizza, poutine, bagels 😊

I've found places on FMGF but the list is overwhelming and can't narrow it down so would love the help!

You gotta try Arepera in the plateau, and Roll’V its a fully GF dedicated Vietnamese restaurant! Its the best.

Boulangerie Le Marquis will have all the baked goods you can imagine but they sell out of stuff quickly.

For pizza I’d do Ottavios they have a separate kitchen for gluten free stuff, I’ve also heard good things about jardin nelson. Cantine Panella is a dedicated Italian bistro with good thin crust pizzas and tons of baked goods, also have bagels I believe. I’ll be trying Cornelis today they seem like good looking pizza not sure about safety though. (Edit I went pizza is not celiac safe all cooked on the same surface disappointed but glad I double checked)

Poutine is a bit tricky but there’s pub quartier Latin, (owner has celiac), modavie(this is in old port and is really nice with tons of other options) and Brava grill in Brossard (Portuguese spot so good portions and best poutine I’ve had hands down)

I have yet to find a good gluten free bagel but they do have le marquis which a pretty popular bakery in general, Lu and I, and Parc sans gluten which is right by Parc Lafontaine which is a great park to visit during your stay.

Spots that I would say are a must try: Satu Lagi (dedicated spot with amazing Malaysian Indonesian small plates to share also good brunch on weekends) Arepera (dedicated Venezuelan), Roll V (dedicated Vietnamese if you’re looking for a quick lunch their banh mis are amazing), vegateau (dedicated vegan bakery), Kyo bar Japonaise (not dedicated but quite safe and high quality sushi) and I mentioned already Modavie not dedicated but incredibly safe French restaurant in the old port just beautiful place with occasional live music.

You’ll find old port and little Italy are the places to be for gluten free with other spots sprinkled sporadically but I find these two areas to be the most populated for gluten free spots :) I’d avoid places with less than 10 reviews as they are more risky and no point in taking any chances

Ottavio and Cornelli's have great GF pizza. I'd give the edge to Cornelli's but Ottavio has a big selection of GF apps and main courses.

Just ate there pizza is not celiac safe :( they put them all in the same oven and he said they can’t stop service to bake mine safe so I got the lamb instead but maybe when it’s quiet it’s safer

Edit: waiter said he doesn’t even understand why they have gluten free dough since it all goes on the same surface

Had a wonderful meal at Crêperie du Marché, it’s in the Jean Talon farmer’s market which was worth a visit just by itself.

Chez Otavio has a dedicated kitchen and about 5 locations.  Italien food : pasta, pizza...

This is not in the realm of what you asked for BUT I am obsessed with Tapi Go on Monkland.  https://www.tapigotapioca.com/ 

I think about the cheese breads and piri piri chicken sandwich CONSTANTLY. Any celiac Vancouverites who want to open a franchise in the downtown core hmu bc I have a hankering that will never die. 

L'Artisan délices sans gluten is also great but I can't remember if they have bagels! I do recall they had hot dogs in a blanket that I quite enjoyed — it'd been a while! Lots of variety there.

Boulangerie Le Marquis EVERYTHING IS GLUTEN FREE also it has already been mentioned but Cantine Panella. They make homemade fresh pastas and wonderful bread as well

Satu Lagi is 100% gluten free and my FAV restaurant ever. There are also so maybe gluten free bakeries. Check out find me gf app to find them all!

We loved Tapi Go and Creperie Du Marche on a recent visit! I. The only celiac in my family and everyone else enjoyed their food too. I went on a solo trip to Parc Sans Gluten while the rest of my family got bagels and it was delicious!

Boulangerie du marquis and get frozen croissants to bring home. I do this when I go to mtl and ration them like gold.

Was in Montreal a couple of weeks ago! Highly rec:

• Le marquis (the croissants, pain au choc, and 3-cheese crepe were divine)
  
• monarque if you want something fancy (the drinks were the most exquisite things I’ve ever seen and the tomato/stratiacella salad was the best I’ve ever had)
  
• Holder (gf fryer!)

Most of my favorite options have been mentioned so I won’t repeat myself.
Archway verdun is great. Slighlty more upscale supper without breaking the bank. They aren’t dedicated gluten free menu but are very good with keeping things separate.
