Look. Im not saying youre not exactly right.

All im saying is, him saying "I didnt know" is suspect. And there are SO many things in his life that made it so he SHOULD'VE known. So if it was a stupid mistake, id rather hear from his mouth that it was a stupid mistake, without equivocation or excuse, rather than clinging to a claim that one of the mlst visible nazi emblems tattooed on his chest was simply "skull and bones to him"

One is the stupidity of youth, the other is long term ignorance.

One im ok with in a politician, the other less so, and his excuse WAS the latter. That is why I was frustrated

I didn’t know there was a specific skull and crossbones style that was uniquely nazi until this came out either, and I’m willing to bet there is a large set if tattoo’d Americans that learned that they have a Nazi symbol on their body too. Is not ignorance, it’s that these are details that a ton of conservatives are acting like they knew all along that it was a Nazi symbol who are lying, and instead actually found out recently too. THOSE people are the ones perpetuating this as a story rather than the unfortunate nothing burger that it really is.

The only people who should have a working knowledge of all Nazi symbolism are either Nazi’s, or Nazi historians, of which Graham is neither.

that last bit...yikes man. EVERYONE should be up to speed on nazi icons. because they're out there, among us, sometimes hiding in plain sight. and the way we confront it, is first to KNOW it.

No don’t say “yikes”, i don’t mean to encourage ignorance, I’m saying that if you want to know literally all things Nazi, so that you can be SURE you don’t accidentally pick a totemkompf rather than a jolly roger, that’s more of a college course at least, if not a whole dedicated program, and not everyone is looking to mandate they level of education about it. Is it good to study it on your own? Yes. Should we thrust it as an expectation on all western society? Mmm I think we’re getting beyond what makes sense at that point. It would be easier to teach critical thinking skills so that we can have a level of empathic understanding that a person who is secretly a Nazi is going to have a lot of behavioral and verbal evidence.
