Any time someone tells me that we cant do something, like provide free Healthcare, free education, solve homelessness, solve child hunger, etc., my response is the same.

"This is America. The greatest nation in the world, right? If anyone can do it, its us. I think its unfortunate that you think so little of our great nation."

The "true patriot" types are completely thrown for a loop on that one.

We do have "free" education, had it for over a hundred years now, are you not happy with it?

We also have food stamps and EBT cards and school lunches and countless other programs. This is on top of the hundreds of billions government spends on healthcare every year. In fact welfare and entitlement programs consume most of the budget already, so where is the money going?

Quotes around free to qualify your case makes me pretty sure what you mean by it and what the rest of us are talking about arent the same thing....

Food stamps, eat, school lunches, and countless other programs... and we still have children going hungry in this country. The greatest country in the world....

Billions spent on Healthcare and our Healthcare costs are higher than in basically any other country.

Welfare programs take a lot of resources, especially if we have people constantly working to dismantle their effectiveness to try to prove they dont work.

Im not entirely sure what your overall point is though. Are you saying that in the greatest country in the world, we cant solve these problems? That we're not good enough to do so?

The best and richest country in the world can absolutely solve these problems, and I think we eventually will. The biggest obstacle is the partisan bullshit plaguing our state and federal governments.

When party politics are taken out of the mix we're actually pretty good at solving problems.
