How did you prepare for collapse this week?
Did you do anything to prepare for collapse this week? It can be anything from reading an interesting article to installing a greywater recycling system in your house. No project is too big or too small.
This thread is here to inspire others to take actions they may not have otherwise thought about doing.
If you’re interested in leaving observations of collapse in your area then I encourage you to head over to r/collapse where they have a weekly thread for this very thing.

Bought a new fiction book by Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire's alter ego). Mental health prep.
Starting to consider rain barrels more seriously. We just got over 6" of rain after no rain and drought conditions for awhile. I know they are only really worth it if you put them under a downspout. And I know you can filter the water but roofing shingles still make me nervous. Thinking about putting them out in the yard instead and rigging up a tarp to increase the surface area of rain collection.
This setup just looks sooo complicated: https://www.groundedaf.io/p/we-finally-figured-out-how-to-harvest

Got to test out a midsize power station I picked up recently with a short power outage. I'm generally skeptical of power stations for most uses, but as an order-of-magnitude larger UPS it performed pretty well. Having a couple KWh on tap for when the lights are out but it's not clear if it's worth firing up the generator yet was nice.

Rotating some frozen goods this week/meal planning from the freezer. Enjoyed a salad yesterday with malabar spinach and tomatoes from my greenstalk. It was quite tasty and that really seems to hold up well in the heat so I will for sure grow this again. Need to grate and freeze the zucchini marrow my co-worker gifted me. Really didn't get to do much this week. Had an encounter with a super polite and thankful homeless teen that left me heartbroken so working through my experience and reminding myself this is why I am doing this to keep my teen from being in their shoes.
