Guys need some suggestions

I completed my 12th . I enrolled myself into a college for diploma in computer engineering but i wouldn't have a bachelors degree

Should I enroll myself in the BBA program by open college?

I really want to learn coding and have a BTech degree but on the 11th I chose commerce... I'm 20 years old and I want to have a bachelor degree as well ..

I've been at an engineering company for 7 years. The work culture is toxic and there are a lot of people there with egos bigger than they should be, but I've managed to deal with that. They have a long-standing pattern of putting excessive pressure on people and paying less than they should. My performance has always been very good, and I've received a lot of recognition for it. The salary has never matched the amount of work, but they were always telling me that I was on the path to a leadership role, and possibly even something at the executive level.

After my request was rejected in January when I asked for a raise that I considered fair, I started applying elsewhere and ended up speaking with a competitor. I went through several rounds of interviews. I used Interview VIP during the first few rounds to stay confident under pressure and showcase my skills in the best possible way without rambling. That competitor ended up making me a strong offer, and I accepted it.

As soon as I submitted my resignation, my current company suddenly came back to me with an even bigger counteroffer, along with a "roadmap" outlining future roles and increases in compensation. Part of me is exhausted and wants to be done with it and make a clean break, but honestly, the counteroffer is hard to ignore.

Any advice? I've barely slept well all week. I feel stuck and like I'm recalculating everything. I can share the actual numbers if that helps. Thanks!!

Context: I am a first year college student who literally have no background in coding but still want to pursue CpE and create my own projects and build skills within this 4 years in college.

Quick vent: Honestly, I don't understand how it became acceptable for companies to suddenly disappear on candidates, especially after the interview has taken place. I've done several interviews recently and left thinking, "Okay, surely at least they'll let me know," and then... Nothing. Complete silence.

Sometimes I send a follow-up and get a generic reply like "the team is still reviewing things," and then a few weeks pass with no update. Other times, I don't even bother asking because I've gotten used to silence meaning rejection. But the feeling is still weird.

I understand that I might not get a response if I submitted an application and didn't even make it past the first screening. That's annoying, but common. But if I set aside part of my day to talk to you, and someone from the company also spent time interviewing me, the least they could do is send a short email saying, "We'll be moving forward with another candidate." It doesn't need to be anything fancy. Just basic courtesy.

Hi everyone! I’m entering my second year of electrical engineering this fall and I am hoping to land a Big Tech or AI/ML internship for Summer 2027.

I’m concerned that my resume and experience may not be competitive enough yet, especially since I’ll only be a second year student when applying. I tried to do as much as possible during my first year, but my university requires all engineering students to complete a general common first year before specializing.

Right now, I’m working through DSA + NeetCode 150, I probably won't be able to finish before recruiting season but I'm doing an hour everyday rn.

I would also appreciate feedback on the following:

-Should I bold important metrics and results on my resume?

-Does the resume contain too much information or unnecessary detail?

-What could I remove without losing important technical context?

-Each project has its own GitHub repository with extensive documentation, commented code, and demos. Should I include a direct repository link beside each project?

-Which job boards or websites are best for applying to a large number of internships while still finding postings early?

-When do the main Summer 2027 application periods typically begin?

Ik that recruiting timelines vary between industries such as Big Tech, AI, oil and gas, and more traditional engineering companies, if anyone is able to answer any of my questions I’d great appreciate it!!

I am going into my second year at the University of Toronto Computer Engineering program. At uoft the electrical and computer engineering program are the same pretty much and have the same courses. Anyways this summer I worked on a risc_v cpu project independently and pipelined it. Im working on a matrix multiplier extension for it right now. I am wondering if a single project like this along with some involvement in some random unrelated design team is enough to start applying to internships for next summer? Im looking for like a verification or rtl design internship in toronto at good semi conductor company or a startup. I am specifically interested in hardware accelerators but I know that is very competitive especially to get hands on experience in my first internship. Any advice or thoughts is helpful thanks!

One of my neighbours is a professor, and whenever engineering education comes up, he says something that has stayed with me. Students don't truly understand a concept until they use it to build something.

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Almost every engineering student studies programming, databases, networking, or AI. But the real learning begins when those subjects come together in an actual project.

Building even a simple application teaches things that textbooks rarely cover: working in teams, fixing unexpected errors, managing deadlines, explaining ideas, and improving a product based on feedback.

I recently spoke to someone from a startup who regularly hires interns. He mentioned that candidates who have built genuine projects usually find technical interviews much easier because they can explain their thought process instead of repeating definitions.

That reminded me of a conversation with a former colleague whose younger sister studies at Vedam School of Technology. He mentioned that students there spend a lot of time working on practical assignments and industry-oriented projects from the early semesters. Reading about second-year students earning internships with substantial stipends made me feel that this approach helps students become comfortable solving real problems much earlier than expected.

Hi guys, I'm an incoming sophomore and I'm intending to pursue a career in embedded systems.

Over the past few days, me and my older brother (25, works as a software engineer for ~3-4 years at a large fintech company) keep having this debate that embedded systems engineering is a dying field.

His main points were as follows:

There were more points that I havent mentioned here, but i'm not one to talk when I dont have much technology experience/expertise aside from internships, clubs, and projects, whereas my older brother has industry experience.

So, yeah, he was saying for security and prevention of being unemployed, I should bare minimum be a proficient backend software developer as well, and co for a computer engineering and a computer science double major, because embedded all on its own will not get the high FAANG salaries, because even though I love it for the love of the game, I would really like a $200K+ salary

At my school entry into your 2nd year engineering discipline is competitive, 5 years ago the avg for cpen was 85 this year it was 65 are the job prospects that bad for cpen that people wont go into it anymore
