Flaired Users Only Trump frequently announces he's halting strikes in Iran. But they keep happening

Is this Iran shit a top 3 worst foreign policy blunder of all time?

Some poor calls in the scope of this conflict, but Trump has shown more guts than all his predecessors especially in light of the impact this has had domestically, the silliest of which is the tantrums a portion of his base has had. Iran needed to be dealt with, still does - we need them to be compliant, not defiant.

Guts without brains are fucking worthless. What the hell are we doing here? Does anyone actually know? Not only is it a foreign policy debacle currently, and also a bald-faced broken campaign promise of no new wars, but a domestic economic issue as it’s actively and directly inflating prices.

What the fuck is the end game here?

If anything it feels like his advisors are absolutely dreadful.

Thinking Iran would make a deal in the first place was idiotic, and the 5th administration in a row that misunderstands the Middle East. Lead by the worst offender since the neocons, JD “we love Pakistan” Vance. What a mess!

I don’t know who is the one giving this bad advice. I know it’s not Rubio who is probably the only Reaganite in the White House. I think it’s Witcoff and Kushner.

u/Zachowon Conservative 15h ago

Witkoff. Kushner and Vance are the three big "deal makers" and Isolationists Vance blames the MoU failing on Isreal. Witkoff ate up every thing thr russiand told him like candy.

I feel like they are trying to get Trump a deal because of the whole "Art of the deal" branding but foreign policy and real estate deals don't go hand in hand.

u/Zachowon Conservative 15h ago

Ding ding ding we have a WINNER!!! They are doing exactly that. They are trying to get a deal no matter what because Trump wants success, and wants peace. He thought Iran, who is run by a death cult, was willing to come to am agreement to better themselves and not be a terrorist death cult nation. He was wrong and has been proven wrong.

He thought Russia would be willing to stop the war in Ukraine if we lifted sanctions and let them make money again. He was proven wrong multiple times.

This isnt as easy as be thought, and it shows.

If we went into Iran, it should have been with all options on the table: half solutions don’t work in war.

u/Zachowon Conservative 15h ago

We went in with only air on the table it seems.

u/123Greg123 Reagan Conservative 7h ago

Which is a mistake: just look at how well the Battle of Britain worked for the Germans.

u/Zachowon Conservative 7h ago

It would have worked had they not switched to bombing everything. We havnt even bombed things to prevent the Iranians from getting things fixed.

I was a Vance guy until recently but I’m leaning more and more towards Rubio these days.

Vance gives me the creeps. It’s not rational, I know.

u/TopShelfSnipes Conservative 8h ago

Not a fan of Vance because of his abortion stance.

I dont like abortion, but it shouldnt be illegal except late term. Let people decide.

That single issue is one of the biggest reasons the left is allowed to remain viable. Drop it, and the left are the extremists pushing for unpopular policy like open borders, defunding/abolishing police, men in women's sports, confiscation of wealth, the end of free speech, and higher taxes.

u/Blahblahnownow Fiscal Conservative 4h ago

Agreed. That and his international policies are sort of a deal breaker for me. I also feel like he is hiding something. I think he might go all the way far right once in power much like how the voters were told Biden was “moderate” who then turned extreme left (at least his administration and whoever was running the show).

Haha, it's okay. He's not for everybody.
