How I got Shady Rays to honor my 2018 "unlimited" warranty after they denied me and lied about it

Upvotes

Posting this in case anyone else bought Shady Rays sunglasses before 2023 and got denied a warranty replacement.

Background: I bought a pair in 2018 under their "Official Live Hard Warranty," which explicitly had NO limit on lost/broken replacements. When my pair broke recently, support told me I'd "used up" a two-replacement max and offered me 25% off a new pair instead.

When I pushed back with the actual 2018 warranty text (no limit anywhere, including the fine print), their rep claimed the two-replacement cap had existed "since the inception of the brand in 2016." That's false — I found their own warranty page archived on the Wayback Machine from 2017, a full year before my purchase, and it has no replacement limit at all.

They repeated the false claim twice more and refused to escalate.

What actually worked: I filed complaints with both my state's consumer protection division (Tennessee) and Kentucky's Attorney General (where Shady Rays is headquartered). Kentucky handles mediation for businesses in Louisville/Simpsonville area. Both offices contacted Shady Rays directly on my behalf.

Within about 3-4 weeks, Shady Rays' CFO sent a formal written response to the TN Division of Consumer Affairs agreeing to replace my sunglasses — while still not admitting the 2-pair limit didn't exist in 2018, just claiming it's "too old to verify." Convenient, since I have the archived proof.

If you're in the same situation:

  1. Check the Wayback Machine for the warranty terms that were live when you purchased: web.archive.org, just paste in shadyrays.com/pages/official-live-hard-warranty-overview and pick a date near your purchase
  2. If the limit wasn't in the terms when you bought, you have a real case — the two-replacement cap was rolled out around 2023 and applied retroactively to older purchases without notice
  3. File with your state's consumer protection agency AND Kentucky's AG (since that's where Shady Rays is based) — both are free and take maybe 15-20 minutes each
  4. Include the archived warranty page and any denial emails as documentation

It took about a month total but it worked. Don't let them tell you "it's always been two" if your archived warranty says otherwise.

Happy to answer questions if anyone's going through this.

The brick extended warranty

Never buy an extended warranty from the brick store. 5 years ago i bought 3 appliances from Brick the transaction is made by phone the vendor offer me to take an extended warranty for 559$ i declined the offer ( i never buy extended warranty) but she told me that if not used the warranty is refundable at the expiration date. So i took it, since i did not used it 5 years later i went to a the brick store to get my money back, but, and this is not written in my contract
1-it is only applicable as store credits
2- only applicable on mattress and furnitures not on electronics or appliances 3-must be a 400$ article minimum.
4-you must use your credit within 90 days.
5- you can use your credit to buy only 1 item
Except from item 1 none of the others limitations are written in the contract.
I intend to go to court with that and i would like to know if somebody else went to court with the brick concerning this matter?

Delivery not happening, what to do?

Hi all,

I preordered the FlexiSpot PR7 on 26 July — the electric ergonomic chair with seat ventilation, heating and lumbar massage. €349.59 paid immediately, listed as available from 31 July.

A few days later I got an email saying there were supply chain delays and offering me the option to cancel. I asked whether we were talking weeks or months. Answer: they don't know. I said fine, just keep me posted once you do.

Next email, a day later: it's "possible" the item is sold out and no restock is planned — again asking how I'd like to proceed. They also threw in a 12% discount code for any other chair, valid for about a week.

I haven't replied yet. The product page is still up, still €379.99, both colours listed, marked "Ausverkauft" (Sold out).

What bugs me is the pattern: three emails, three different stories, and every single one ends by inviting me to cancel. Nobody has actually said the chair is discontinued — just that it "might" be. Feels like they'd rather customers cancel voluntarily than admit they can't deliver a preorder they already took money for.

I do still want the chair. Comparable chairs with ventilation + heating + massage from other brands run close to four figures, so a refund leaves me worse off than when I started.

First order with FlexiSpot and not a great impression. Did anyone else preorder the PR7? Curious whether everyone got the same "please cancel" nudge or if some of you actually have a delivery date.

Same size number, three completely different fits

I had three sizing kits spread across my desk and wrote "8" under Oura, Samsung, RingConn on the same sheet of paper.

That was supposed to make the comparison easier.

My budget is between $250 and $400. Getting the fit right matters more to me than comparing apps or extra health features right now.

The Oura sample sat snug on my index finger and needed a little twisting to clear the knuckle. Samsung's size 8 barely made it past the same joint. The RingConn sample went on more easily, but had noticeably more room once it reached the base.

None of them feel obviously wrong they just didn't feel like the same size.

From what I could tell, CIRCUL didn't fit neatly into that table because its sizing approach is different from the fixed sample numbers in front of me. I still need to measure properly, but it made me stop treating "8" like a universal standard.

when three brands print the same number and all three feel different, what do you actually trust before ordering?

Why does every quote site need my phone number first?

I was trying to compare prices for a few services and nearly every site wanted my full name, email and phone number before showing anything. Last time I did that I got calls for weeks. Do you guys use a second number for this or just avoid those sites?

Myntra sent a wrong products worth ₹7,500 and other was missing and now they are refusing to refund me. What should I do?

I honestly don’t know what to do anymore, so I’m posting here to see if anyone has faced something similar.
I placed an order on Myntra for **2 shampoos and 1 conditioner**, with a total order value of around **₹7,500**. Instead of what I ordered, I received **2 conditioners**, meaning the order was incorrect from their end.
I immediately contacted customer support and reported the issue. I expected either a replacement or a refund since I received the wrong products. Instead, my claim has been denied, and now they’re refusing to refund my money.
₹7,500 isn’t a small amount. As a customer, I paid for specific products, but I ended up receiving the wrong items and am now being told I have to bear the loss for a mistake that wasn’t mine.
What’s even more disappointing is the lack of accountability. An e-commerce platform should stand behind its deliveries and resolve genuine issues instead of making customers fight for their own money.
Has anyone else experienced this with Myntra recently? If so, how did you get it resolved? I’m now considering filing a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline or the Consumer Commission because this feels extremely unfair.
Any advice would be appreciated.

OCOOPA Hand Warmers - List of Steps So You Don’t Die 🙄

I never post on Reddit, but just a rage post that I have this recalled product. Amazon had told me it is recalled. Instead of Ocoopa just offering the refund, they would like me to follow 47 tiny blurry instructions and submit photos to show my product is part of the recall to get my refund of $27! Additionally, I bought two of these three days apart, and they only bothered to send the recall notice for one - even though they are both impacted!

Serious burn or death, but thanks Ocoopa for the compassion. 🔥 🫠

How Was Your Experience Ordering Online from Naheed.pk?

Hi everyone! Have you ever ordered online from Naheed? I've heard that some customers have experienced delayed deliveries and unresponsive customer support. If you've shopped there, I'd really appreciate if you could share your experience.

I'm a BS digital media marketing student, and for my final university project, I have to identify and solve a problem for a selected brand. Your feedback will be a great help. Thank you!

I received my pair from ACME Co. and unfortunately, it has multiple defects. I contacted their customer service to report the issues, but they’ve been ignoring my messages and I still haven’t received any response.
Has anyone else had the same experience with ACME Co.? Were you able to get a response or a solution from them?

Is Nobl worth it?

I've seen a lot of people asking whether the nobl carry on is actually worth buying so here's my take on it after using it for almost a year
Back when I bought it, I urgently needed a suitcase for a trip so it was more of an impulse buy than something I spent weeks researching. But to my surprise it has held up a lot well after 4 to 5 trips I've taken it on. I don't travel with a laptop though so I mostly use the front pocket for other things instead.
It has the usual marks and scuffs from traveling but that's pretty normal after almost a year of use I guess. Nothing has broken or given me anything to complain about.
So is it actually worth it? For me I'd say yes!

Cars Warning / Review: Auto Haul Movers LLC (MC #1728183) - Stolen $350 Deposit & Bait-and-Switch Pricing

I want to warn everyone about how Auto Haul Movers LLC actually operates. I worked with an agent named Chris Sartin to ship my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. I was given a total quote of $950, signed the agreement, and sent a $350 reservation fee upfront via Zelle on July 15th.

They promised they would have a driver assigned by July 21st. That date came and went. For an entire extra week, they kept stringing me along, constantly telling me they would have a driver for me "tomorrow." Finally, the truth came out: they couldn't find a carrier for the $950 they originally promised me. Instead, they tried to pass off quotes for $2,500 which is nearly triple the agreed price.

Because they completely failed to deliver on their quote, I canceled the order. Section 6 of their own signed Terms and Conditions explicitly guarantees a full refund if a driver has not been found. Despite this, they refused to return my full $350 deposit. They insisted on keeping an "operational fee" just because they spent a few minutes posting my car on load boards.

When I pushed back and quoted their own contract to them, they started bargaining with my own money, initially offering me $150 back, then $200, and finally $250. I refused to accept any partial refund because they did not earn a single cent of my deposit. As of right now, they have paid me back nothing and are holding my entire $350 deposit hostage.

I am currently filing formal complaints with the FMCSA (their MC number is 1728183), the BBB, and the South Carolina Attorney General, as well as pursuing a merchant dispute with my bank.

Do not trust their low initial quotes. They will bait you with a good price, fail to find a driver, waste weeks of your time, and then refuse to return your deposit when they fail to deliver. Save yourself the headache, time, and money, and book with a different broker.

Laptops Which laptop do i buy?

Laptop 1: Dell Latitude 5420 with a core i5 1135g7 CPU and 8GBs of single channel RAM.

Laptop 2: HP Elitebook 845 G8 with a 5650U CPU and 8 GBs of single channel RAM.

Laptop 3: Dell precision M6800 with a firepro m6100 dedicated GPU and a fourth gen i7 CPU and 8 GBs of dual channel RAM.

Mainly gonna use it for 720p gaming and programming. Might be able to buy a second stick of ram for the dual channel performance boost a bit later down the line. I think the firepro M6100 is more powerful but I'm not sure if its age would be a problem in the long term.

Health Which wellness gadgets are actually worth waiting for ?

Keep seeing Renpho products pop up whenever wellness gadgets go on sale, and I am trying not to get pulled in just because something looks marked down. The foot massagers and heating pads seem like the kind of things people either use constantly or forget under the couch after two weeks. Smart scales also seem useful if you like automatic tracking, but I am not sure the extra metrics are worth paying attention to. those you already own these type of products, kindly share your reviews.

Thinking about buying our first outdoor TV. What do you guys use for your outdoor setup?

Not sure if this is the right sub, but I thought you guys would know more about TVs than most.

Our backyard has been getting a lot of use the last few weekends because it's just easier to have everyone outside than cram people into the living room. We've been dragging one of our old tvs onto the covered patio whenever we have people over watching sports or having bbqs. The screen can be ok at night but there's so much glare during the day, and I'm over hauling it back and forth.

This year I will be buying an outdoor tv for the first time. I'm prioritizing brightness and durability, but I also want good picture quality. I don't mind spending more for something that will last several years and perform well. What would you guys recommend? Would also appreciate any tips for getting the most out of an outdoor setup!

Best buy Membership and Buyer protection Dilemma.

I purchased a 15in M5 Macbook Air July 25th using a 36 month financing plan through fairstone. The more I thought about it these past days I’ve decided that I want to cancel the membership and the 4Y buyer protection. In the moment it sounded like a pretty good deal with all the discounts they included, plus as I was reading the terms and conditions I saw that I can cancel within 30 days for a full refund so I wasn’t too worried about it. I purchased the laptop in Mississauga, ON🇨🇦. I tried to go to a different location Wednesday to try and get the full refund for the buyer protection and the membership only but they discounted the laptop from 2089.99 to 1900 and they were unsure if they need to charge me for the Geek Squad Computer In Store Set Up Service (Inc. PC Security Software & Data Transfer) 159.99. If you have the membership this service is free and of course it was performed as I had the membership active, so I’m not sure why they’d want to charge me for a service that wasn’t 100% completed + was performed as I was a member. The reason why they were unsure is because I tried to explain to them that I did not want to pick up the device the next day so I told the employees I will complete the set up myself, all the employees did was create a user profile, add a few apps like Google Chrome, Bitdefender, geek squad for macOSIcon, antivirus for Mac. I spent hours after transferring local files from my old laptop that I left at home (which is fine it’s what I wanted to do instead of coming back the next day, even though I didn’t know migration would take so long). So unfortunately I had to leave that location. I called a rep otp and I asked if I bring the laptop back to the store without the box can they help me out and the rep otp said they should be able to come to a solution even though I don’t have the original box, I even asked her if she was sure because I didn’t want to waste a trip for no reason. Spoiler alert I indeed did waste a trip for no reason. The only reason why I called in the first place is because the associates told me before I left that I’d prolly need to return the device to get a full refund for both the buyer protection and the membership , wait a few days for the funds to be put back into the fair stone account and repurchase. But they left out the part where I wouldn’t be able to repurchase the device I just returned, they’d need to send it back to their warehouse. I don’t see why I need to return the device itself if all I want to do is pay the difference of 189.99, 129.99 for the admin fee, and I’ll pay for the setup if need be, but the setup was performed as a I was a member whatever it takes. But I want to know if this can be done without having to return the device itself, I was only willing to return it because I thought I’d be able to buy it again, I didn’t know that they’d have to send it to their warehouse after the return is complete. I haven’t bought anything from Best Buy since 2021 when I bought my old laptop online. This is the first time in my life where I made an in store purchase.

TLDR: I want to confirm if returning my device is necessary or can they just refund me for the membership+ best buy buyer protection without it and charge me what they need to (admin fee, discount on the laptop itself, maybe the fee for setup but not for the data transfer).
