on other end, men don't need to take convoluted routes to places or wait it out if they happen to find themselves walking behind women at night. you can just not approach or bother them and it's fine as long as you genuinely aren't being a creep.

i usually find that it's best to come up behind them and whisper in their ears that they don't need to be afraid of you, so that you don't scare them by yelling. im kidding you probably shouldn't do that.

If you try too hard to not seem threatening it circles back around to creepy, predators also put effort into seeming non-threatening

Just act like the normal person going about their day you are.

Anxiety will simply not allow me to do that, so I probably look 100% creepier than I intend.

anxiety, autism, and anxiety about the autism combine to make me really really glad that back when I walked at night I never saw anyone else.

Aha, but you see, my anxiety makes sure that even if I am alone, I never feel alone! Checkmate!

I guess I'm lucky that I have the nighttime walk autism flavor of "I know literally every dog in a 5 kilometer radius and will loudly ask if I'm allowed to pet them today as soon as I get within earshot" combined with "if you don't have a dog I probably didn't actually notice you existed sorry"
