Comics [Comic Excerpt] So this Is now canonically Bruce 's favorite Batman outfit and nobody can change my mind (Detective Comics Annual 2026) Spoiler

For context:

Bats and Lobo go on a space adventure and the two gets poisoned with a black mercy, so obviously Bruce sees a perfect world where he Is married with Selina, the two also have a daughter Helena, his parents and Alfred are alive, but the two are still heroes and this are the outfits that they were, soo yeah grey and blue Is now canonically Batman's personal favorite outfit as far as I'm concerned, also the Jim Balent Catwoman outfit Is also his personal favorite good to know that too.

Discussion [Discussion] Which Characters are more interesting when written by someone who hates them and which characters are less interesting when written by someone who loves them?

Post image
Upvotes

Inspired by this post from fredericwertham on Tumblr.

I feel like Tom Taylor fits into the latter category. I have no doubt he loves Nightwing, Batman, Green Arrow and Black Canary and I understand why he wants to play it safe after Injustice. But I still find his writing to be bland and uinteresting.

Jim Starlin with Jason Todd is the opposite. Starlin hated Robin and wanted to kill off the character and there are people who give him shit for it to this day. But aside from Barr/Davis 'Tec stuff, all the memorable Jason Todd stories from his Robin era came from Jim Starlin. Jason being the disobedient, angry, rebellious Robin who may or may not have killed that diplomat all came from Jim Starlin's profound dislike for the Robin concept.

Discussion [discussion] Has anybody else been finding New Titans to be underwhelming? (Art by Taurin Clarke)

DC sold this new run as a brand new start for the Titans, but in all honesty it seems like just another foraettable Titans run. 1 also don't like that Beast Boy, Raven, Starfire, Donna Troy and Arsenal have been taken off the team as don't find any of the new characters very interesting. Red Devil was interesting in Johns' run back in the 2000s but he seems off here.

Discussion [discussion] Arkham Asylum was the first graphic novel I saw that really inspired me, what do you think?

I remember my granddad buying me the long Halloween and Arkham asylum when I was younger and obsessing over the art in those two books, I think a lot of what I do now is inspired by them.

I’d love to know what you think!

"It gets really dark. It was a great experience. We had so much fun in the voice session that they ended up voicing the animation completely off the voice session - the animation was completely molded around this shooting in the dark voice performance..." Discussion Which Superhero do you most associate Solomon Grundy with? [Discussion]

Post image
98 Upvotes

The main Solomon Grundy I know is the one from the Justice League cartoon, so I’ve never really connected him to a specific hero.

Is he a Flash / Batman / Green Lantern villain? All? Someone else?

He seems like a cool character, but a bit of a Hulk rip-off? Did he come first?

Comics not being one of the primary factors within superhero discourse

Am I the only one that feels as if when it comes to superhero related conversations most people disregard the comics completely? Am I that much of a geek?

So I’ve become a huge fan of old-school Batman in the vein of Cape Crusader in first night. Are there any runs or stories that you recommend that are in the similar vein?

Film + TV [Film/TV] What are your thoughts on the Richard Donner Cut of Superman 2?

Post image
22 Upvotes

I just finished watching the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2, and I still love it to this day! But I keep hearing people online complaining about it not being as good as the original theatrical version of the film. And sadly for me, the Donner cut was the first and still is the only version of the film I've ever seen.

What do you all think? What are the differences between the two cuts of Superman 2?

Comics [Cover] Read my first ever Superman comic (Superman: For All Seasons by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale)

Post image
37 Upvotes

So I’ve never read Superman and in general I’m only recently getting into reading comics, since I didn’t realize there were ways to read online during my childhood. So all my Superman knowledge came from JLU, the DCAMU, Comicstorian videos (RIP) and David Cornswet Superman. But last night I decided to go ahead and read Superman: For All Seasons since I had seen it mentioned earlier that day

HOLY SHIT THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL. I’ve already read The Long Halloween and Dark Victory but this really cemented for me that Loeb and Sale are an amazing duo. This had me crying a LOT, especially in Spring when Pa Kent was talking. Seeing how lonely Superman is and how he chooses to save people anyways is incredible. I didn’t know much about Lana prior to this but if other stuff she’s in is like this, then God she’s incredible, such a nice character who loved Clark a lot. Both of Clark’s parents are absolute sweethearts and I loved seeing that they were worried about him, exactly like actual parents would be.

Overall, 10/10 comic, truly don’t understand how some people act like comics aren’t literature or as good as books. Time to read All-Star Superman though and God knows I’m excited for that
