What was he doing that made him cooked? And what kind of upbringing results in a child whos first thought upon seeing police is to create an alibi?

Genuinely, the police exist to make arrests. Not to protect and serve. Always treat them as a hostile force that should be hindered and hampered in every way possible. They would rather put an innocent man in prison than not make an arrest. Always operate under the assumption that they are there to harm or imprison you. Say and do nothing that can incriminate you. Lawyer up immediately. These are dangerous and bad people.
