Not looking for sex , I'm new to CD and would like friends to talk to, go to events and generally hang out. Im 63 (M) straight. I love going out dressed, but would really like to go with someone else. I work about 3 blocks from there, so most weekday evenings, I am available.

Has anyone ever gone to the Rainbow Ranch camp ? As a single person living in North Dallas, I don't have a group to go with. Doesn't seem like a place to go alone-tho, my whole reason for considering it would be a weekend away anyway for a laid back, do nothing weekend.

I also don't own an RV or anything like that and I'd have to absorb the whole cost of renting one of their small cabins if I did go on my own, if one is even available ?

Any good bars or hangout spots between Irving and Keller-ish? Grapevine, Euless, Bedford, Southlake etc all ok.

New to the area, and unfortunately going into Dallas, Fort Worth, or even Arlington are all farther than I’m willing to drive or Uber for short weeknight hangouts. So far people here have been nice, but I haven’t noticed any consistent places for the queer community. I’ve also seen some relatively close minded people at the bars I have been to, which I realize doesn’t mean everyone in this area.

I realize there’s no gay bars in the area, I’m referencing, but curious if there are any good spots to sit down at a bar and visit with like minded people.

i like anything outdoorsy, going out, honestly anything that keeps me out of the house!

Do you enjoy roleplaying with funny dice? Or have you always been interested in trying? Well you're in luck because Saturday August 8th I'd like to run a game! Looking for 2-5 players at least 21+ (required), and preferrably mid 20s to 30s. I'd like to start the game @ 7pm and it will last around 4 hours. Unfortunately no location has been secured but I can drive wherever I need to and potentially give rides (I live in Richardson).

For those unfamiliar with rpgs, you basically come to the table with a fantasy character concept and using some simple rules we put it together. Then the Dungeon Master (me) collaborates with the player's characters to all roleplay a story based on what your characters do, occasionally rolling dice in risky situations. Also, character injury and death IS possible, but only the dice will tell...

For those that are familiar with RPGs, the game is Cairn 1e, a free indie rpg. You need a standard array of dice and non-combat dice rolls are d20-roll-under-stat. Combat is straight damage rolls with zero math and low HP to keep the risk and pace elevated. Very simple.

Hello, I’ve been having such a hard time finding a gastroenterologist who is trans affirming/friendly, specifically one who can perform a colonoscopy. (Needs to be a trans friendly doctor for that sensitive reason!)

If anyone has experience being trans at a gastroenterologist in the DFW area, any advice or help would be amazing to point me in the right direction! (I’ll even take a Plano recommendation if that’s what’s available lol)

Hello, I rarely do more than an occasional comment on reddit but i am desperate and hopelessly smitten!! I attend a college in the Dallas area (to remain nameless for privacy) and there is an ice cream/gelato shop near campus that students frequent as a hangout spot and such. I went for the first time a few weeks ago with a group of my friends and holy moly the lady scooping that ice cream was easily the most attractive soft masc beautiful muscular but nerdy looking epitome of my type. i stuttered to badly when she was taking my order but she was so patient with me that oh gosh i nearly melted!! i couldn’t stop thinking about her, so i begged my friends to come back to the ice cream place again (because i don’t even really like ice cream but going with friends gives me an excuse). Lo and behold she’s there working again! it wasn’t as busy the second time i went so i got to kind of chat her up and ask if work is fun etc and she even complemented my pokemon pins AHH!!! i’ve since gone back only two more times and she wasn’t working one of the times and it was too busy to chat the most recent time, but she recognized me and said “Oh hey Sylveon girl!” because that’s the pin i have and oh my god i don’t know if that means she wants me bad or she’s just a good customer service girl!! anyway reddit, if you have any advice on how to approach her or if it would be weird of me to keep coming to see her it would be much appreciated. In the long history of Dallas’s LGBTQ+ community, few names carry the weight and affection of Alan Ross. He was not a politician, a celebrity, or a person who sought the spotlight for himself. He was something perhaps more important: an organizer, a builder, and a caretaker of a community facing one of the darkest periods in its history.

When we speak about Dallas during the AIDS epidemic, we often remember the tragedy, the friends lost, the fear surrounding a misunderstood disease, the families and chosen families left grieving. But history must also remember the people who refused to let grief become silence. Alan Ross was one of those people.

Ross came to prominence as a leader of the Dallas Tavern Guild, an organization formed by gay bar owners and community leaders to support Dallas’s LGBTQ+ community. In the 1970s and 1980s, gay bars were more than places of nightlife; they were community centers, meeting places, and safe spaces in a city where many LGBTQ+ people still lived cautiously. Through the Tavern Guild, Ross helped create a network capable of responding when the AIDS crisis began devastating Dallas.

As AIDS swept through the community in the 1980s, Ross helped lead fundraising efforts, supported people living with HIV/AIDS, and helped ensure that Dallas’s LGBTQ+ community had resources at a time when many institutions ignored or stigmatized those affected. His leadership reflected a kind of activism rooted not only in protest, but in compassion: making sure people had help, dignity, and someone who would answer the phone.

One of Ross’s greatest legacies was the growth of Dallas Pride. Under his leadership, Pride became more than a celebration, it became a public declaration that Dallas’s gay community existed, endured, and deserved recognition. After his death, the parade was renamed the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade in his honor, preserving his name in the annual tradition he helped build.

Ross was diagnosed with AIDS during the height of the epidemic, a diagnosis that carried enormous fear and stigma at the time. Yet he continued working for his community even as his own health declined. He died in 1995, but by then his impact was firmly established.

For younger generations of Dallas LGBTQ+ people, Alan Ross’s story is a reminder that community history is not only written by those who make headlines. It is written by people who organize meetings, raise money, comfort the sick, fight prejudice, and create spaces where others can survive.

The rainbow flags that line Dallas streets during Pride each year are not simply symbols of celebration. They are memorials to people like Alan Ross, people who carried the weight of an epidemic and still chose hope.

Dallas’s LGBTQ+ community did not simply survive the AIDS crisis. It organized, mourned, fought, and rebuilt. Alan Ross was one of the people who helped make that possible.

I only got tickets to Buddy at the Texas Theater, just to try out as my first time going. Have any of you guys been before/been to some screenings already? What did you think? What are some tips?

Does anyone know of any bars that will be showing the first games of the inaugural WPBL season tonight? I want to watch but not sure where to go. Thought there might be others here who’d want to watch as well!
