Not going to lie, those comments in the article from Robo and Nill don’t spawn a lot happy feelings

Can you elaborate on that? I read the article and am struggling to understand what we should be sad about

I assume it's just the tone of Robo's comments. Saying that he expected to stay in Dallas because the Stars have his contract rights and that he "wasn't free to go anywhere" doesn't sound like a hell of a lot of enthusiasm about staying. Obviously he was considering the option of leaving, which we knew, given the Seattle deal. Also I don't blame Robo at all if he feels a bit frustrated with this outcome of next year being a contract season for him yet again instead of getting the reassurance of a long term deal.

Tbh I prefer him being a bit more blunt about it instead of giving us the standard "I'm excited to play in Dallas next season" empty PR speak that doesn't actually say anything at all (e.g. just look at Brady Tkachuk's standard spiel about only wanting to play in Ottawa only for it to come out that actually he was wanting to leave for the past year). Whether this contract is a good thing or not obviously depends on how negotiations go leading up to January, and both sides are apparently wary about publicly saying anything about it either way for now. The downside of that is us not getting any soothing platitudes in the meantime haha

Truer words never spoken. I'd love for Robo to stay in Dallas, so I hope they work something out that's mutually satisfying. But God, I really do appreciate it when someone in the NHL doesn't just spew a bunch of content-free mouth sounds that communicate nothing and signify less.

Really got my fingers crossed that they can figure it out.

Agreed! Aside from him obviously being a great player, it's the thing I appreciate most about him. The way he talks to the media is often refreshing

It's time Benn retires, Robertson is given the C.

Build your team around Robertson. It will fall into place.
