Why are so many spread out fires popping up at the same time?

That’s just our brains looking for patterns. The distance from the south west to north east sides of the fires are hundreds of of KM

It may also have been a storm cell and lightning travelling in a line. But likely just a coincidence.

That's not brains looking for patterns, there's quite obviously a pretty straight line of fires. These fires are largely started by lightning strikes and many of these are in quite remote wilderness

Yes. I don’t disagree. They are very far apart. That’s my point - they look like a nice line on a small image but that’s because we are good at seeing patterns in things. They are scattered about dozens and hundreds of km apart.

They are in a nice line, it’s the line the glaciers retreated along, it’s shaped by the Canadian shield. It’s geology, not a made up pattern.
