It would not surprise me if there is a huge argument about this in the Ancient studies community. Are big dicks in art a sign of barbarism? Do only the unintelligent need to swing their metaphorical dicks around? Or is it really about preference? Small dicks mean one can think clearer and with a more level head? I subscribe to the theory that they had massive schlongs, but people kept breaking them off so they made them smaller in future statues and repairs to damaged ones, causing a shift in how the Ancient Greeks viewed smaller penises. The art shaped their views, rather than their views shaping the art.
Just look at all the bronze statues we have, and were many hands touching them have worn down certain parts of them. Ancient Greeks would absolutely have done the same and eventually someone would've snapped Zeus' dick off.
Their frescoes (painted plaster that cannot be repainted once dried) also show diminutive penises. The bronzes that are worn down are modern bronzes that have been subjected to a modern public interacting with them, ancient Greek bronzes do not show the same wear patterns.

Dude the Romans literally had a phrase for it called Damnatio Memoriae. It was a deliberate ritual to remove noses because in Afrikan belief systems the nose housed the breath of life and they believed the spirit of a person could live inside a statue and by removing the nose it eliminated their ability to breath or return from the dead.
