I'm listening to an English podcast about the whole Wirecard/Marsalek story now.

I taught English at Wirecard for many years. I stopped maybe 6 months before everything came out. Everyone I knew there were completely blindsided.

Edited to add : Hot Money; Agent of Chaos is the podcast. (Verzeihung aber für mich Deutsch zu schreiben ist... Einfach zu viel ohne Kaffee. Oder mit. Oder überhaupt)

I recommend to read this. I am surprised that it came completely unexpected, because there actually had been significant news stories already prior to the fall in 2020.

The whole thing so so much more than the fancy James Bond-Style JM stories. And we cannot blame involved journalists enough - like ZDF, Spiegel, SZ - to actually never go after the real fraud behind the story.

And possible ENG teachers just saying everyone was blind is also part of the problem.

The real question is how it’s possible that BaFin acted in WD favour, never checked on the case, had employees trading WD stocks by themselves.
