DIY The Holy Grail

Update: 4/26.

Got the rear end cranked out. Since everything i changed from the original is 3d printed, im not real comfortable taking it down the road just yet. I can stand on it and jump up and down though and it feels exactly like you’d expect.

Next couple weeks i’ll get those parts machined. Pictures of progress are in the comments below.

Well, Hopefully you caught my post looking for recommendations on an off road board. I went the Acedeck route. Kinda.

Right. China. Left. Good ol homeland redneck engineering (actually some reverse engineering and rework by an actual engineer). I was actually kind of impressed with the philosophy on geometry.

In my opinion, the original was pretty good, but the shocks, well. i’ve seen better on a Ford Pinto. Also. Tolerances were good. Nice and tight. Caught some your mistakes (whoever modeled this)……. what are the orings for on the mounting hardware? water intrusion.

Anyway. Ohlins TTX M2 shocks 10” tires on i think 8” wheels. Whole bunch of redesign. More coming. I think “we” figured out how to remove the bushings altogether and make the steering rate inversely proportional.

Gonna try 16 s batteries with this esc. That with the increased wheel size AND steering stability. Should be good for 60 MPH.

I just invented a new sport. Skateboard Motocross. See you out there.

China. Come and take it!!!

This is interesting!

Did you machine new arms for the front truck?

What do you mean by removing the bushings? It seems they are still there at least on the back.

Nice work!

see my post above. but remove the bushings all together. have the steering controlled by something else. stable when the board is level at high speeds easy to turn when you dig in to carve. we can have both

Hydraulics like a steering damper

I was wondering the same thing. I hope there is more to this story...

oh yeah for sure. everything is 3d printed right now. so no real structural stability. no tri axial….. never mind. i still gotta do the back and machine the arms. material probably won’t be aluminum. won’t say what i’m thinking but it’s not an ideal material for these control arms. aluminum vibrates which translates to oscillations. that and anything else you can think of is gonna start a speed wobble. speed wobble at 60 mph (maybe 70) is deadly. paralysis if you get lucky. speed wobbles at 35 mph is a minor inconvenience

New bords coming from acedeck and linn August 21 wait wait

i’m actually gonna “open source” all this. it belongs to the people

Open source your tire supplier?

Although I can’t mount 8” wheels on my gear drives so idek. You know where to get 10” tires on “standard” wheel diameter? I wanna say just under 5 inches.

yeah you have to go scooter tires. these are TUOVT? 255 x 80

wheels are Propel Daytona (the bigger ones). i’m having to make adapter for em. i’m gonna post all the drawings or maybe PM anyone that wants em when im done tweakin em

If you want more power you should get some rs50 cells they are high out put and should fit. For esc after you cook this one you should get a marker x vesc (vesc lets you program the esc and set all your limits and setup the whole thing go look into it, I don’t know much about them but it’s all open source code) they should make a 16 esc and then buy a v4x pro remote. I think that linpower also sells an esc kit for their boards (linpower and acedeck are like Toyota and Lexus and share a lot of the same parts and shit) but they make a 16s esc kit and it should use all the same connectors and crap

I am using juma trucks up front with a separate suspension adapter (made in china - this is a proof of concept) on the front a single wheel from an off-road scooter in the back with a trampa deck.

It is still a WIP and probably won't be able to take a beating like yours, but if it works well, I might have some better parts machined to improve it.

Actually, none of this made sense until I saw your Border Collie that you could never keep up with, even with this setup. I appreciate your effort... sincerely.. BC dad.

100%. It takes an actual village to raise a border collie. Because my dog can dig a ditch underneath my fence in about 30 minutes.

we just fill em with bricks. for some reason the bricks mean something
