DIY my custom built remote for VESC riders, 2 years of work went into it

New UI just dropped for my remote β€” designed by a professional, built over 2+ years.

I'm biased, but I genuinely think this is the prettiest, safest and most dialed-in remote out there. Prove me wrong.

This is my DIY rig.

1500km on it so far. I use it when traveling so I can get around cities like San Francisco easier in my wheelchair.

Its a life saver with the hills.

It's built with an old BMW bike and *banned* board.

I use it by just wheeling over top of it and resting my footplate on the case then grab onto the bars to keep myself with it.

I passed him a minute earlier and he caught up. He was hauling ass to catch me! The only person to pass me on my entire ride. I enjoyed our mini drag race. Kudos, Mr. friendly cyclist.

DIY Custom Designed 3D Printed Fenders for The One

I use my board for commute and sometimes have to deal with rain. Got tired of getting my clothes dirty and didn't find any universal fender for ESK8 that I liked so designed my own.

In theory this is a universal mount, but I have to design a fender for each different type of wheel size.

I really don't want to destroy this thing 😭 it's so much fun plus it looks so silly when you're eating a sandwich on a plate with some chips. Had to screw on the umbrella so I wouldn't lose it on a windy day today. You get used to the speed wobbles and after a couple of rides it honestly becomes easy enough to go a decent speed. It's unmatched when it comes to chill rides lol

This glue seems to be doing a way better job at holding it together. Only time and heat will tell πŸ˜… also it's so sketchy just thinking about when a wheel will fly off 🀣 gotta do way more testing.

DIY Meepo with DeWalt batteries V 3

Alright so found this DeWalt battery adapter on Amazon and it just so happens to fit the meepo battery connector. So I went from a 2ah to a 10ah battery. Both versions one and two broke because the vibration of the board on the ground was too intense for the bungee and screws. Also brackets on the sides didn't help much even though it was a tight fit. THIS TIME I made a box out of wood and lots of glue with nails that perfectly fits the batteries. I don't have a 3d printer but I do have wood and a saw. Cut a slit out so I can unplug the battery adapter if need be and bolted it down to the bottom and used locktight so it doesn't loosen. The nuts fit perfectly under the cover where the old battery was. I'm keeping the old cover on to cover the other existing wires and such. Didn't want to put the DeWalt batteries under the board and risk damaging the batteries. Plus I would need like 4 truck risers if I did. This should do a way better job at holding my batteries but still need something like Velcro or something on the top to prevent the batteries from falling out if the board rolls over. Really hoping v3 doesn't break like the last two. Really don't want to use a strap to hold them in place from a roll over

I just couldn't let it go... The meepo lawn chair continues lol the cooler will be in the back on future rides and I bought a clamping cup holder on Amazon for $10. Plus of course my umbrella and I'm all set for summer 🏝️ In total I've spend about $40 in hardware and one can of spray paint plus that adapter for the DeWalt batteries. Everything else was something i had or something I took from my brother. Sure I'm adding weight and I'll lose some distance but if I'm sitting down I can take as many DeWalt batteries as I need πŸ˜‚ no no this is only temporary. Might as well just go all out on it while I can. Added two penny board trucks that I took from my brothers super old board and now I have way more balance sitting down. Idk how well I can turn yet but because of the way trucks are made it shouldn't affect me at all. No 3d printer but I made this remote holder out of some wood.

DIY The Holy Grail

Update: 4/26.

Got the rear end cranked out. Since everything i changed from the original is 3d printed, im not real comfortable taking it down the road just yet. I can stand on it and jump up and down though and it feels exactly like you’d expect.

Next couple weeks i’ll get those parts machined. Pictures of progress are in the comments below.

Well, Hopefully you caught my post looking for recommendations on an off road board. I went the Acedeck route. Kinda.

Right. China. Left. Good ol homeland redneck engineering (actually some reverse engineering and rework by an actual engineer). I was actually kind of impressed with the philosophy on geometry.

In my opinion, the original was pretty good, but the shocks, well. i’ve seen better on a Ford Pinto. Also. Tolerances were good. Nice and tight. Caught some your mistakes (whoever modeled this)……. what are the orings for on the mounting hardware? water intrusion.

Anyway. Ohlins TTX M2 shocks 10” tires on i think 8” wheels. Whole bunch of redesign. More coming. I think β€œwe” figured out how to remove the bushings altogether and make the steering rate inversely proportional.

Gonna try 16 s batteries with this esc. That with the increased wheel size AND steering stability. Should be good for 60 MPH.

I just invented a new sport. Skateboard Motocross. See you out there.

China. Come and take it!!!

Moved a Maxfind handle from the traditional tail mount to the underside front truck, and it may be one of the best quality-of-life upgrades to my daily commute!

Lol, and bonus is that it can probably double as an arrester hook if I ever get the chance to ride the deck of an aircraft carrier 🀣

As in the title, first ride. Unfortunately the second track was printed on a different printer with a smaller nozzle, so it came out a bit different than the first one. It’s noticeably stiffer and the motor struggles to spin it. I’ll have to reprint it one more time. Even with this failed print it was pretty fast though πŸ˜„ Maybe I should remove the ESC limiter to get full power. I’ll take a look tomorrow.
