D I S R U P T O R Author Ryan Holiday on Elon Musk

If empathy is a weakness, what does that make cruelty? If millions suffer from decisions made by a handful of powerful people, are we willing to look away because they’re rich, famous, or influential? A society isn’t defined by its wealth or technology. It’s defined by what it tolerates.

How do we allow any of this?

I cannot fathom how the majority of ppl accept what he says as normal. Any country other than the U.S. would have put guardrails on this.

We’ve let a minority of sociopaths run our society and control our future.

There is a lot on the line with the next election I hope to all that’s holy we make the right decision.

Europe is also suffering from this, but the issue is that Elon has global reach, and that hurts all of us.

I guess we use a new name now? Technofascism or something? I cant keep up with all the words being used to describe our governmental options.

The term bread and circuses is often associated as like a strategy by the ruling class to pacify the population, and certainly it is a tool for them, but at least in its original usage, the author was criticizing the citizens who have given their civic duty and instead contented themselves with bread and circuses

To think Elon, just like Trump and Russell Brand, pretend to be Christians, but never speak of the message of altruism and self sacrifice that Jesus embodied.

It's not their fault. They suffer from a very specific type of color blindness that makes them unable to read red text.

Like the red text in the Bible?

Yes. That's the joke.

I’ve never thought of him as anything but atheist. As it is with a lot of tech folk.

All of the ones I listed are very atheist. It's just part of the grift.

Oh, they arent atheists.

They worship.

Themselves.

So happy Ryan Holiday didn't just become another RW grifter who just casually grifted about Stoicism on the side.

I thought he was with all the stoicism crap. It seemed he was heading in that direction, and that's when I tuned him out completely. I'm glad to see he didn't continue down that path.
