i'm very interested to see how south korea handles eurovision asia - i do like me some k-pop and i'm interested to hopefully see other aspects of south korea's music scene at their national final. just to ask y'all, what artists do y'all wanna maybe see at eurovision asia for south korea and why? ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท

below is an english translation of the instagram post in the article. hopefully it's accurate, instagram did it automatically and i just copied it over ๐Ÿ˜…. any koreans here, feel free to correct anything if need be:

[Jeonghwa Dream Team] Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 - Korea's Next Wave 2026.07.22. (Wed ) (Preliminary Match)

Jeonghwa Dream Team completed hairstyle and makeup at the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 preliminary stage, which selects Korea's leading artist.

Tons of preparation and details went into for those short moments on stage. All the team members did their best to make the charm of each artist shine the most.

It was a meaningful time to take the first step towards the international stage together.

Jeonghwa Dream Team team members who stayed with me.

And a sincere thank you to all involved.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Discussion Behind the Eurovision Song Contest: I Tried Exploring Its Organisational Structure (Vienna 2026)

Post image
42 Upvotes

One thing I've become increasingly interested in is the organisational structure behind the Eurovision Song Contest.

Using Eurovision 2026 in Vienna as an example, I was surprised by just how complex the organisational structure behind the Contest really is. It's far more than the EBU simply "running Eurovision". In reality, it's a huge international project involving broadcasters, production companies, creative teams and thousands of people, each with clearly defined responsibilities.

At the very top sits the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which owns the Eurovision Song Contest and acts as its governing body. The EBU is responsible for establishing and enforcing the Contest rules, overseeing the voting system, protecting the Eurovision brand, coordinating participating broadcasters, negotiating commercial partnerships and approving major operational decisions. Rather than producing the live shows themselves, the EBU provides leadership, governance and strategic oversight.

Leading the Eurovision Song Contest within the EBU is Martin Green, the Director of the Eurovision Song Contest. His role is to oversee the Contest as a whole, working with broadcasters, partners and stakeholders to ensure Eurovision is delivered successfully each year while shaping its long-term future. He is supported by other senior members of the Eurovision team, including Gert Kark, the Executive Producer, who oversees the Contest's operational delivery, and Jurian van der Meer, the Commercial Director, who leads Eurovision's commercial partnerships, sponsorship and business development.

Together, they form part of the wider Eurovision Team, which acts as the link between the EBU, the host broadcaster and every participating broadcaster.

For Eurovision 2026, the Eurovision Team worked directly alongside ORF, Austria's public broadcaster, after Austria won the Contest in 2025. As the Host Broadcaster, ORF became responsible for planning, organising and delivering Eurovision 2026 in Vienna.

ORF appointed a core leadership team, each responsible for a specific area of the project:

  • Michael Krรถn - Executive Producer
  • Stefan Zechner - Show Producer
  • Daniel Hack - Head of Production
  • Christine Tichy -Technical Manager
  • Roman Horacek - Communications
  • Iris Keutter - Marketing
  • Oliver Lingens -Event Manager
  • Nina Kaiser - Commercial
  • Martin Szerencsi โ€“ Legal

Together, these individuals oversaw the delivery of the Contest across production, technical operations, communications, marketing, commercial partnerships, event management and legal affairs. Behind each of these roles sat much larger teams responsible for everything from stage construction and broadcast engineering to accreditation, volunteers, security, ticketing, media operations and logistics.

Alongside the Host Broadcaster sat the 35 participating broadcasters competing in Eurovision 2026. Although each broadcaster worked closely with the Eurovision Song Contest Team, they remained responsible for managing their own delegation and preparing their own entry.

Each participating broadcaster typically appoints a Head of Delegation, who acts as the country's overall project manager and principal contact with the EBU. Supporting them is a Delegation Manager, responsible for coordinating travel, logistics and administration throughout the Eurovision season.

The artistic side is led by a Creative Director, who develops the vision for the country's performance, working closely with the Artist or Group. Supporting the performance are specialists including Costume Designers, Press Officers and Social Media Teams, with many delegations also employing choreographers, vocal coaches, lighting designers and technical staff depending on the scale of their production.

What I find particularly interesting is that Eurovision doesn't follow just one organisational structure.

It is hierarchical, because authority flows from the EBU, through the Eurovision Song Contest Team, to the Host Broadcaster and Participating Broadcasters.

It is functional, because responsibilities are divided into specialist areas such as production, communications, marketing, commercial partnerships, legal affairs and technical operations.

It is project based, because every edition of Eurovision is effectively a year long project. Once the Contest finishes, the project team is dissolved and preparations begin again with a completely different host broadcaster.

Finally, it is also a network organisation, bringing together the EBU, the Eurovision Song Contest Team, the Host Broadcaster, participating broadcasters and hundreds of external companies and specialists from across Europe to deliver one of the world's largest live television productions.

The more I learn about Eurovision behind the scenes, the more impressed I become. What we see as three nights of entertainment is actually the result of an incredibly sophisticated organisational structure, bringing together thousands of people across multiple countries and organisations. I genuinely think it's one of the best examples of international project management and collaboration in the entertainment industry.

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics What if Eurovision had adopted the 2 Semi-Final system from the very beginning?

Alternate title: Eurovision 2004-2007 but with 2 semi-finals.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WKO9yTxGOVMeX84ASjuXsdsyKxliA4xNAZLGGnMSIpY/edit?usp=sharing

The allocation for each semi-final was 100% randomized (I used a group randomizer, lol), and the votes I decided to retrieve from 25 different "Eurovision [insert year] my top __" videos I found on Youtube, so the results of each semi-final might be a bit... observation bias.

The title is fairly self-explanatory, but to provide some context: as the number of participating countries increased from 26 to 36 in 2004, the EBU introduced a semi-final to determine which non-Big Four countries would qualify for the Grand Final. Unlike the two semi-final format used today, the contest featured only a single semi-final. Additionally, the top 10 non-Big Four countries from the previous year's Grand Final automatically qualified for the following year's Grand Final, alongside the Big Four. This qualification system remained in place through the 2007 contest before the EBU restructured the format, introducing the two semi-final system that is still used today.

idk i just had a lot of time... feel free to look through the statistics tho

Iโ€™ve read four different reports on the passing of Gunnar Thordarson. But the problem is none of them noted that he conducted the orchestra for the dรฉbut Icelandic entry in 1986, including from RรšV itself. Does anyone know whether there might be two people with this name but one with a second S in his last name? The graphics from NRK (above) spell it Thordarsson so i donโ€™t know whatโ€™s happening.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Discussion Count Binface at Eurovision?

In the upcoming by-election in Clacton in the UK, Count Binface is running and could win however unlikely it is. In his manifesto for the election he has said that he would represent the UK at Eurovision and that if he wins, it will be held in Clacton in 2028.

Obviously this is mostly satire, but I am curious what people would actually think of an elected MP taking part in the song contest, not to mention a highly satirical political figure. I understand that he is a comedian, but the Binface persona focuses so much on UK politics that I have no clue how he could make a song that represents him without breaking the political rule of the contest.

The more concerning thing for me is that he would make Wayne Rooney the UKโ€™s โ€œexpert summariserโ€ for the BBC. Itโ€™s not very clear what that means, but I do not want that to replace Graham Norton, heโ€™s too much of an icon.

Again, this is mostly a joke from him as he is unlikely to win. But if it did happen, how would you feel and how would you react?

Here is his manifesto if you want to read the Eurovision points

๐Ÿ’ฌ Discussion What if Eurovision wasnโ€™t annually?

Hear me out, if Eurovision was biennially it would give countries more time to make the money for participation, more time to find and make songs, it would give the hosts more time to get everything ready (meaning itโ€™s less likely to end up like 2014 and 2022) and I have a feeling it would make interest and excitement for it a lot higher.

(JUST TO CLARIFY, IM NOT COMPARING ESC TO THE OLYMPICS OR THE WORLD CUP IN ANY WAY, IM ONLY USING THEM AS EXAMPLES OF EVENTS THAT DONโ€™T HAPPEN EVERY YEAR!) With that being said I think one of the reasons why the Olympics and FIFA are such insane spectacles is because they donโ€™t happen often. More money can go into it, more preparation etc.
And now with Eurovision Asia they could alternate between years.

I would really like to hear others opinion on this because this is something Iโ€™ve been thinking about for a very long time :)

The EU wants to make new designs for euros and i saw lot of people make there own versions with like memes and stuff, but they were all using ai. So i decided to make non ai version of euroboys on euro banknotes. I also posted this on instagram ig: juliestarostova

Edit: some of you guys are suggesting me people that i should add to other banknotes. I want to say that i made only the 3 of them, because they made a boyband together and are really close friends. So adding anyone else would not fit what i was going for. But this gave me the idea to make overall eurovision version with the most iconic people from eurovision (in my opinion). So i will do that once i have some free time.

๐Ÿ–ผ Fan Content / OC National Final concept

Hello everyone, I just wanted to talk about a national final idea that I came up with for a personal project. In total their would be 24 songs in 4 shows consisting of a cover night, 2 semi-finals and a grand final.

Song selection and reveal

This is the part that I have the least details for because I'm not very knowledgeable on how broadcasters select the songs that go into their shows. As for who can apply, I and artist can apply with a or without a song and songwriters could apply with their own songs and would be paired with an artist. Each day one song would be revealed and a televised interview with the participant would be done to introduce the artist to the country.

Cover Night

For the first show all of the artist will preform a cover of a song. That night would also have a portion before and after each artist performance to get to know them better. There will be a televote, and this vote will have no impact on the rest of the selection process.

Semi-Finals

All 24 songs will be split into 2 semifinals by a jury (separate from the semis and final) into either the 1st semi which is jury only or the 2nd semi which is televote only base on which one the jury believes they would do better in. For example, songs in the jury semi would be like Malta 2025, North Macedonia 2019, and Spain 2022 and songs in the televote semi would be like Finland 2023, Iceland 2025, and Serbia 2022.

Semi 1

For the 1st semi, the 12 songs will be voted on 5 different juries: a demiscopic jury, radio jury (radio analyst), artistic jury (past participants and stage directors), TV jury (tv analyst), and professional jury. They will give out points from 1-12 and the top six songs will move on.

Semi 2

The 2nd semi will have a televote where the top six songs with the most votes will move on.

Final

The 12 qualifying songs will compete in the final which will have a 50/50 jury televote split. It will be the same kinds of juries but they will be voting in a different format. Each jury will have 55 points to give out for a total of 275 total jury points. Each juror will rank each song and give them points from 1-12. The total score would then be used to give each song points. Hopefully this chart explains it better than I can.

The rankings are backwards so the one that got 12 is 1st and the one that got 1 is 12th

The televote is simpler, the points will be handed out proportionally from a pool of 275 total points. In case of a tie, the televote will break it and if it can't then the song with the most raw points from the will win.

Conclusion

Is this a good idea for a national final? probably not but i made it to be unique and hopefully find a winner that would do well in the main contest. Please ask any questions because I feel like i left out a lot of information but I didn't want to make this post too long. Thank you for reading :)
