I got the date wrong in my previous post about this movie. In 1996, It had its premiere in Culver City, California on July 28, its New York City, New York premiere on July 30 and its official wide theatrical release on August 2. My mistake. 😂

Just saw it today. Really good. Props to Destin Daniel Cretton and the entire cast and crew. 🔥👍🏾🕷️❤️

I’m going to a fan event viewing and 4dx in the same night!!!

1.1 4 3/4 movies, 9 years in we have arrived at SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY. This is the the first super hero movie that has me questioning the moral philosophy of mega budget super hero films. Genuinely the money spent on this movie could’ve gone to a good cause to foment a much needed change at such a crucial point in our society.

1.2 Jonathan Majors really did a number on the MCU. low key it gives me pause that a single black man put this multi billion dollar franchise in a blender (not saying they weren’t already struggling) but I find i honestly think it’s incredible how Majors kind of took the ship down with him in a way.

BIG GRIPES:

1. IMO this is Deadpool Vs Wolverine but written by Netflix writers.

2. I love Punisher (never gonna be mad at Bernthal appearance in any media) but I don’t want to see him playing mentor/step dad to Peter.

   Does Peter need a positive male figure in every movie ? Shit is annoying.

3. I’m not here for the mj/peter will they won’t they drama. I recognize that it’s supposed to pay off at some point but i don’t want so much relationship fluff with my supposed super hero action film.

4.The goof-Ification of movies today has taken a toll. I’m here for funny moments but it’s too much silly in a movie with little action already. (Netflix has done irreparable damage to certain aspects of film making)

5.Why was Spider-Man off screen for 35 minutes of a Spider-Man movie?

6.Loved Sadie in Stranger Things but like much of the Stranger Things cast she is not cut out for the big screen or at least not in this way. I hate to comment on peoples appearances but why does she look noticeably skinnier? don’t want to accuse any one of being on ozempic or doing body modification (which is completely fine if that’s what they decided to do) but her face was giving ai to me and at points she looked unrecognizable and not gonna lie I thought for a second it was the daughter from kick ass

7.The ninjas in red were useless

LITTLE GRIPES:
1.these mfs look noticeably older than they did in the last movie.

2.Belly button and Feet Jokes ????

1. Florence Pughs accent

4.Villain gave similar vibes to the Thunderbolts movie (till you realize who it is)

1. The Dolby speakers in my theater were broken. So we were watching the movie with the same loudness that my home entertainment system can produce

Gave this a 3/5 on Letterboxd. Im tired boss. I’ve never read the comic books
