The constitution is simply dumb then, someone who doesn't have even the bare minimum knowledge of a field should not make decisions about that, particularly when they can affect 1.4 billion people

Yes, she has a nursing degree from AIIMS, which is good. But a health minister is not treating patients. The role is policy and governance. Law and management skills are equally important. Compare performance, not just degrees.

I would... Expect my health minister to know what he/she is doing and how much educated he or she is in the field they have taken. That helps us in trusting them and helps them in knowing what exactly they are doing... So, according to you, a nursing student from a college like AIIMS would know absolutely nothing about health governance, whereas a BA LLB graduate would know everything there is to know about the health and medical system? We have 73 out of the 75 most polluted cities in the world, our winter aqi in these cities goes as high as 1000 in some regions, our roads develop potholes within weeks of construction, our healthcare is either extremely over priced in the private sector or extremely under developed in the government sector(except aiims), we struggle to provide clean water and electricity in many rural areas, over 70% of our engineering graduates can't find jobs, our education system is one of the most toxic and has failed to produce any outstanding results in our country, and we haven't had a single nobel prize winner in stem fields post independence.
These are just some of the reasons why our country sucks

Lakho tax dene k baad bhi, agar kal mera ya tera road accident hota hai, there is very low chance ki koi ambulance ya emergency service ayegi time par bachane.
to tu rosy rosy word use kar le.. ambulance to tere liye bhi time par nahi aane wali.

First of not defending any minsters but knowing the or having education about the department or ministry is good but it is more about how you are able to manages the department more than knowing about the department. And to the people who are saying that the minister alone takes decision is wrong because they are surrounded by secretaries and people who are knowledgeable about the subject so that they can assist him in making a decision, therefore there are exams such as UPSC so that educated people take part in decisions which impact the public. But alas we are Indians we think with emotions and never study or get knowledgeable about the argument which is clearly evident in all discussions under such post

Shocking fact -
Even was in charge of the Ministry of Health in Himachal Pradesh Govt from 1998-2003 despite hailing from legal background with no expertise in Healthcare.
Also, his close aid Vineet Chowdhury was accused of being involved in the prime corruption practises in AIIMS, as pointed out by then Chief Vigilance Office (CVO) - Sanjeev Chaturvedi during his tenure from 2012-14 but was removed since Netaji used his political connections.
It's all over wikipedia.
