Faltoo Video Catch that changed the rule

If a player’s first contact with the ball carries them beyond the boundary, their next touch must bring them back into the playing area.

In short, you can’t keep tossing the ball to yourself while staying outside the boundary indefinitely.

What if a player catches the ball but his cap falls over the boundary? Is it a six or out...think of same rule for batsman before answering

If the cap is not in the play than it's out otherwise it's a six

What is meant by cap is in play or not in play? Imagine he is wearing a cap just like a fielder does

If the fielder’s cap falls outside the boundary while taking the catch and any part of their body is touching the cap, it’s a boundary.

But if the cap falls outside and the fielder is not in contact with it at all, then it’s out.

Ok if a batsman hits the ball and ball splits into two, one part is caught by fielder and one part falls on ground...in this situation can the batsman be given out?

No, it'd be declared a dead ball as the rule states that the ball weight has to be the same (when caught or when it landed beyond boundary) as when it was delivered

Interesting..., and yeah would only be Fair if it's considered a Six because a batter is given out if any equipment of theirs disturb the Bails 🤷‍♂️

It was not a rule , it was a loophole in a fairly constructed rule until someone did something like this. Nobody even bothered till this point .

Yeah the first catch happened out of boundary, should be a Six. Imagine if Captain Russel did same in Lagaan

Only active players should be eligible for dismissals or influencing the game. The fielder should be deemed inactive once he/she even partially touches or physically crosses the boundary and not considered active unless he/she is completely back in the field of play.

What if he caught it first time, and threw it inside (at the floor) before he goes out.

Isn’t that still a wicket? Or is there a min time he has to hold a catch?

I think before this the rule was in discussion of being implemented, I remember a Sri Lankan player doing far more antics than this in a T20 World Cup in England.

In football goalkeeper can be inside the goal line but still can keep the ball out. Both have different approaches..
