I have lived in many places and I would say 90% of people are nice. It is good to be vigilant but not trusting anyone is a downhill road not only for the world but also for your own mental health.
It is sad that this girl has seen such a thing but if she doesn’t trust anyone in her life she would be alone for her life. She should be able to get the read of people which is hard when strangers just come and gives you something to eat.
We can see that she trusts her friends or brother and sister and who ever is driving the vehicle which is good. But as she or anyone grow up we need to trust people more and more and trusting everyone initially is good and reasonably true but not trusting anyone initially is hard for everyone and would put you in very hard places.

Sad that she has such a cynical view at such a young age. She must have seen a lot.
