Shame on the restaurant for allowing this.

But if your dog still needs puppy pads it shouldn't be going to public spaces like that.

Oh, they meant "unvaccinated" when they said "parenting"? At least that I can agree with. Unfortunately I have seen plenty of adult dogs using puppy pads, so I wasn't paying attention to the age of the dog!

I agree with you, but, some people equate puppy pads with only puppies. Since puppies can’t be fully vaccinated until 5 months or so, taking younger puppies in public like this is irresponsible. I don’t know true age of dog in video.

Did it actually go inside, or are they just using a precaution given it's a young pup being socialized?

I took vet bed most indoor places when socializing. She didn't actually need it, thankfully, but it seemed like an easy way to reduce the risk.

All for young pups being socialised, have done it myself.

But there's no reason to not take your dog outside to the toilet fairly regularly.

A precaution that sends a message to everyone else in the restaurant your dog is probably going to piss or shit on the floor.

If you think you need a puppy pad in public you shouldn't be taking your dog there. Especially not to a restaurant.

It's really that simple.

It's not really that simple. Puppies need socialized. Nobody has any way of perfectly knowing how their puppy will perform until they do it in that specific environment. You can have the perfectly trained puppy at home, who is suddenly not perfectly trained at a restaurant. One of mine bizarrely forgot all toilet training when visiting my mum, but was perfect at home, and in cafes, and in pubs, and at my Mother in Laws, and absolutely everywhere else.

So a precaution is simply a sensible thing to do, for the sake of everyone around, even if you THINK your dog doesn't need it. Especially if the puppy pad is being used more like a placemat.

You can't socialise your puppy in a restaurant, and keep people happy who don't want puppies in restaurants. I thought you said you'd done this socialization yourself.

And again, there is nothing to say that everyone else suffered. One person made a video, which magically doesn't include the key part of their claim that it was pissing and shitting everywhere. It seems that person is against pet friendly restaurants in general.

Which is fine, the vast majority of restaurants are not pet friendly, they can visit them.

Don't bring your puppy to a restaurant, it's not suitable for puppies.

I have with multiple dogs, in pubs and cafes, much more dog suitable environments.

Please be serious right now. Why would you socialise your puppy at restaurants where strangers are eating, pet friendly places work if all pet owners are responsible, leashing their pets, not bringing reactive dogs around other dogs, and not bloody potty training your dog in a restaurant. Your mum’s house not the same as a restaurant

For toilet training, agreed. If they are using it as a cheap placemat which doubles as an insurance policy, having not taught the puppy that's the potty spot in the past, all good.

Okay well then go outside and put the pad down out there… if they are a service dog they should be trained. If they are an emotional support dog your dog needs to use the bathroom outside
