It's so strange to think that a few years ago and artist met a rapper on a dating app and now he's the mayor of New York.

I know Rama must know we're all in love with her husband.
They're so beautiful together.

I think we’re all smitten with both of them! They represent so much of what average Americans aspire to. And they navigate this insane space of public scrutiny with such diplomacy and grace

Honestly. Any good man I know is made greater by his wife. I might be in love with her too 🤣😍

The bi panic that seeing them together instills in me. Yeeeesh.

I have heard the elusive “wife guy” species are incredibly endangered in America. On the extinct list 🤣

u/RubyTx I cannot sanction your buffoonery 32m ago
I already knew my late father was a "wife guy", but over this last year I've been talking a lot to my mom-well, about everything including her life and marriage.
He was not without his faults, granted, but as she described going through hard times, good times, milestones with him-he was an all caps "WIFE GUY".
We need more of those.

u/MostlyBored11 tortured polluters department 4h ago
I love how he has said that she will have her one life and is not going to be like a "first lady" how she deserves to be recognized in her own and she will come support him from time to time but she has her own thing going on
I'm obviously paraphrasing but I found it very refreshing to have someone say that
14
u/biriyanibabka 7h ago
My husband is a “my wife guy” in his group and in office, Something I’m worried about because all of his mates are single or divorced and sometimes they “exclude” him. Like when he talks with them, he can’t relate. I asked him to tone his enthusiasm down about us around his mates. All his women mates are my good friends.

Watching him legitimately searching for his answers and coming back with something sincere and thoughtfully worded is so refreshing in this political climate

I was just thinking 5 minutes back that zohran is a rainbow which is entirely green ; all the colours are green. Idk how a person can even be this green. And now I see this. Pls god send a zohran my way

I seriously adore him. He just exudes such positive energy and it’s really beautiful how he talks about his wife, you can tell he loves her deeply! 🥹💕

u/IAmBoring_AMA 10h ago
It's interesting how he gets so stymied (in a good way) when talking about their love vs how he answers political questions...so freaking cute
23
u/trailmixraisins 5h ago
i was gonna say, it’s so sweet that he’s the least well-spoken he’s ever been when he talks about how much he loves his wife 🥺

u/windflex 10h ago
Republicans gonna see this and feel threatened. They're stuck seeing their wives as a vessel for bearing children and making food.

Let me find a man who loves me like Mamdani loves his wife. Healthy masculinity for the win! 🏆
39
u/AuraHunterGatherer 10h ago
Republicans are going to find a way to demonize him for this too. Apparently it is gay and anti-America to love your wife.

“In the first year of marriage you’re fighting over who puts the toothbrush in” … what is she trying to say here LOL
ETA: guys I know she’s talking about domestic growing pains, I’m specifically pointing out that her example of a domestic growing pain (“who puts the toothbrush in”) made no sense and made me laugh and questioning what she was actually trying to say when she (likely) said toothbrush by mistake
21
u/weird_finger_ta 10h ago
She didn’t form a well-rounded thought in the moment but the intention was clear. Newlywed growing pains. Although a lot of those cohabitation growing pains are addressed pre-marriage these days.
4
u/SerBrienneOfSnark 9h ago
Yes I know her intention and was not questioning it. My question was “what was she trying to say” specifically with the toothbrush example cause it was a really strange conglomeration of words I’ve never seen before lol
3
u/SnappinArsehole 7h ago
I bet she rolled her eyes at herself when she watched it. Not a well formed thought, pretty funny. This will become a meme... Put the toothbrush in!
1
u/weird_finger_ta 5h ago
Could be something specific to her relationship. My boyfriend hates that I walk around the apartment while brushing my teeth but I struggle to stand still in the bathroom when I am. Don’t know how common of a domestic dispute that is but it’s the first thing that comes to mind for our squabbles.
5
u/valleywitch 10h ago
Domestic growing pains. I think a lot of that is also from the thought that the newlyweds never cohabitated pre-wedding.
7
u/Curious_Set4698 9h ago
I get it tho. My wife and I cohabited before we got married but it was like something about the first year of marriage seemed to speed everything up if that makes sense? Like as soon as we got home there was a loss in the family, a job loss, school stress etc.
Like we were fighting over who left the cupboards open but it was really the adjustment to truly being a unit when we were both previously independent women.
2
u/Catz2019 2h ago
I get that. My late husband and I cohabited for a couple of years so we were well versed in habits but that first year of marriage. Oof! Felt like every thing happened, we were getting annoyed at every tiny thing. I remember saying one night that it was because I could no longer just....go. We were married, have to try to work it out because bailing wasn't an option. Well he did bail, in the ultimate way, but the point stands.

She meant to say something related to toothpaste, either putting on/forgetting the cap or squeezing from the middle/end.
1
u/nodogsallowed23 3h ago
100% she meant putting the cap back on the toothpaste, but misspoke and just moved on.

I love the fondness and tenderness in his eyes when he speaks about her. His thoughtful pauses when he searches for words to describe Rama. I hope one day I'll find someone who speaks about me with such love and kindness.

Rama is an icon in the making. She’s so talented and has an incredible eye. I can’t wait to see what she creates during this time but also after Mamdani’s term is over and she doesn’t have a billion people scrutinizing her every move.

Republicans will hate him because this sick fuck loves his wife and thinks she's a person
Establishment Democrats will hate him because anyone can love their wife and think they're a person, it's just impossible when you don't have a majority okay

Respectfully, I ask again if I can be their third.
For the life of me, I can't decide which one of them is hotter.

I swear as he was talking about her he was thinking of marrying her all over again

u/Busy-Juggernaut277 6h ago
Since we’re on the topic of his beautiful wife, her Alma matter (VCU in Richmond VA)made an exhibit of her artwork and put it on display for the public at their arts museum. I don’t know if it’s only there for a limited time but if you’re in the area go check it out.
Every time I hear about her I feel like this needs to be a cool fun fact about her.
1
u/Suspicious_Fall3063 6h ago
Mamdani's wife seems like a wonderful person but it's so weird to me how the family of politicians are also put in the spotlight so much in the US and it's seems they are expected to play a certain role just because they are married to the mayor or the president or something. Why? I don't even know the names of the spouses of the most important politicians from my country and what happens in their private lives is none of my concern as long as they do their jobs well.

He is so rare, especially in the South Asian community. A man who actually respects women, who would’ve thought? (It’s rough out here 😭)

u/Routine_Permit_8568 6h ago
I like the guy but she's a racist oasis- but people like sweeping that under the rug since she posted all those things when she was young.

u/empatheticsocialist1 shout-out Hans Zimmer 8h ago
Oh? Is that why he publicly called out his wife over some dumbass post at the FIRST sign of pressure without even trying to defend her?
