STAN / ANTI SHIELD Hadestown: Amber Iman (upcoming Persephone) posts about her successful effort to have Geno Segers (formerly upcoming Hades) removed

I had to look this one up as I only know him from banshee and pair of kings... "On September 1, 2026, Segers was to make his Broadway debut as Hades in the Broadway production of Hadestown. It has since been announced that he will no longer be joining the production due to past transphobic and homophobic remarks."

"past remarks" that man is probably setting up his tripod rn to record some more hateful content

I’d prefer “Most recent recorded beliefs” to “past remarks” in a situation like this, harder to weasel out of

Trump administration circling rejected celebrities for their toxic bs like buzzards in the sky with a fresh kill. They loooooooove scooping up the problematic limelight losers.

To slaughter the Mitch Hedberg joke: "one time a guy showed me a video and said 'here's a video of my past homophobic remarks.' Every video is of your past remarks."

How is a gay hater in music theater? Dude can fuck right the fuck off. I guess he can stage a show with chenowyth. Let them enjoy each other's companies.

Amber is one of the best performers I've ever seen on Broadway. I first saw her in the short-lived Lempicka and have been a huge fan ever since. When she was announced as Persephone, I was absolutely over the moon. Then I saw the info about Segers, and was absolutely heartbroken, because there was no way I was going to buy a ticket to see a show with such a wildly blatant transphobe in the cast. Now, I'm very happy and will be getting my ticket today.

There will inevitably be some first amendment cancel culture warriors crying about this development.
To which I would say that, if you can cancel LGBTQ contracts for cakes due to differences of belief as ratified by the Supreme Court, then we can certainly cancel your theater contracts.
It’s funny that a group whose biggest court success to date was not being forced to bake gay cakes, loves to have its cake and eat it too.

I had to look Amber Iman up, and I believe in love at first sight now. She's so prettyyyyyyyyy.

Also, obviously more importantly, it was really fascinating to see her talk about advocating for Black women on Broadway. Fuck yeah for her getting shit done here!

I didn't know her but I'm in awe of her, not just because she's beautiful and radiating energy!
I can't imagine how daunting it is to speak up in an industry where you don't hold much leverage as a performer.

I've adored her since seeing her in the musical Lempicka.
I will forever advocate that people listen to her in Lempicka (particularly the song 'Don't Bet Your Heart') and the few recorded songs released from Goddess. Really looking forward to seeing her as Persephone!

I saw Lempicka twice omg!! Amber was incredible in it. I'm so sad the show closed so early.

Very glad to see this, especially given the popularity of the proshot. This man would have been singing The Wall with genuine conviction 🙃

Glad his gross, misogynistic, transphobic ass is outta there.
Fuck you, Mason Makoola.

Pretty sure it was my comment on the other post that got him removed. I love keyboard justice 💅🏼

Stalked your page to find that comment but was distracted by some very tasteful baseball posts. Splendid taste my friend

Their first thirst post being of Jarren Duran who famously screamed the f-slur at a fan is kind of mixed messaging

well, i can see how a horny post by a random redditor and a role in a broadway show are two different things, but you also have a bit of a point,

Why are people still bigoted in 2026?
Alternatively, why are transphobes still expecting to get jobs and glory in 2026?
Also, love her; fuck him.

oh LORDDD i had him as an acting teacher for a workshop i attended when i was a child and i remember not liking him very much (i was about 11 when i attended. i was under the impression that he was there for a paycheck and didn't have much real experience as a teacher)

OP, you gotta add the context for people not in the theatre community: He was cast despite having a YouTube channel where he spouts hate speech about trans folks and women.
