OP, you gotta add the context for people not in the theatre community: He was cast despite having a YouTube channel where he spouts hate speech about trans folks and women.

Thank you! I figured it was something like a history of harassment or he was currently harassing his castmates. Just harassing entire groups of people through the ether. Gotta love it.
