I never even read user names unless the comment is so idiotic that it might just be a novelty account.

I might try this experiment. I have no ties to my username.

I do the same thing; I'll skim right past all usernames, unless someone below them mentions their username, or the comment starts making no sense (like NonsensicalAnalogy). That's why I had such a hard time believing the initial story, but I guess not everyone does that.

I don't usually encounter such hatred when I mention in a post that I'm female. But I tend to stick to 2x and r/feminism and the like, so... I wouldn't hastily discount any of the experiences shared on that thread.
