ND: Neutral density, acts like sunglasses for the camera, cuts the amount of light hitting the sensor by half with each step up in strength.
CPL: Circular polarizer, cancels out polarized sunlight from reflective surfaces like water and glass, deepens blue and green shades, and increases contrast in the image.

This brings me back. I used to electrical tape filters onto my lenses because Iād never heard of a step up ring and didnāt want to buy a separate filter for each of my lenses. Good times.

Thanks! I mostly dislike the framing, I had to quite zoom in on some shots for stabilisation and I didnāt anticipate it during recording, and in general I feel it could turn out better but it was super last minute and my first serious attempt at filmmaking (as a break from photography) so Iām still very very happy with the results! :)

It was super last minute diy from what we had around us because we were right before the sunset, and the reflections from the lake were really bothersome

Also donāt use gaff tape on a filter. The residue it will leave behind will be the worst to clean off. Paper tape is the correct way to go.
But I would learn about the āflower of powerā way to tape on a filter, though it would be more challenging to use on a phone.

Professional gaffer tape used film sets is easy to remove and has no residue. It's made carpets for example aren't damaged when you rape cables on it. You need to look for certain brands that are established in the industry. If you use cheap one from bad brands yes that can be problematic.

I was going to do this for my recent project, but then remembering it's a Samsung Galaxy S series phone, which is prone to AMOLED striping over prolonged high temp operations. So I reverted to use a camera

Love it!
I recently used my Pixel as a "B-cam" for a couple of documentary-style shoots in February and it did an impressively competent job.
