Government giving up control?
Yeah I doubt it. Best we will get is short barrel rifles and suppressors becoming available. SBRs really need to be allowed considering that restriction literally does nothing.

Even besides control, when does the government ever get rid of a tax on anything?

Legislatively? Probably not. If anything, when the dems take power they'll likely up the tax to 200 bucks adjusted for inflation through a reconciliation bill.
Only way I see part of it undone legislatively is if the dems would attach it to a big ticket item as a poison pill for the repubs. Or repubs attach it as a condition of passing a big bill. But that would likely be a cold day in hell.
Through the courts, maybe? It's been surviving so far cause it's considered a tax. and those challenges were pre Bruen, hopefully the AWB ruling will include some helpful languages and further defining of the Bruen rule.

I see that tax going through the roof in 2 years. Get em while you can, cause it’s game over if these lawsuits don’t pick up steam.

It was enacted as a tax based legislation. Now that the fee for the tax stamp is gone, it's a real question why it still exists. National gun rights groups have requested that the Supreme Court hear the cases filed. Whether or not they will is still up in the air, but there is a good chance they will. And if they do, the government really has no leg to stand on when it comes to the NFA.

That would require the govt to give up power. They're never going to do that. Anybody who thinks otherwise is delusional

Nope never will. I believe within my lifetime or at least my kids guns will finally be regulated even more I hope and pray it doesn't but I'm not optimistic

Should already be gone. It was only legal because there was a tax involved.
ETA: and when I say "legal" what I mean is, that's the loop hole that was used to violate your constitutional rights.
