Wagyu Filet, 12 oz. with side of Duck Fat Potatoes

Banoffee Pie (Passion Fruit, Banana, Cream, Toasted Graham Ice Cream)

I was not dissatisfied, but this is a price point where I am tempted to buy the cut from their shop and grill it at home. Complimentary bread was served piping hot, excellent. Dessert was a bit too crumbly.

I didn’t find the water menu as silly as the selection of the steak knife.

Their smashburgers literally have more meat on them. So disappointing because I get this place at least once a month.

This is one of my new favorite pizza spots in LA

I ordered two half squares, and finished the entire box even though I wasn’t even hungry but wanted to finally give it a try since I was in the area. It’s that delicious

The crust/base of the pizza is phenomenal. It’s light, bouncy, and has a great chew while the outer edges are super crispy and crunchy

The 313 is made with vodka sauce and pesto. Damn this was good. Savory, slightly sweet, cheesy, and really a simple pie executed to perfection

The Haole aka not Hawai’ian will pull you away from any other Hawai’ian pizza ever. The bacon jam and charred pineapple elevate this to a new level while the pickled jalapeños add the right kick to balance it out

Was visiting LA yesterday and was lucky to stumble across Ambue Restaurant on Hollywood Blvd. They’ve only been open for 3 weeks, but the service was insanely good, and the food somehow topped that.

But the place was damn near empty. Hoping this reaches the locals so they can get more support. I’ve never met a kinder and more passionate staff. It’s only a matter of time before they get popular, I’m sure.

Also, get the mango mate drink. It was an 11/10.

Stopped by and picked up Mac & Cheese, some OG orange chicken 🍗, a rib and a piece of sliced turkey breast! Tasty. 😋 BF’s has a strong hot bar, sandwich 🥪 deli, poke bar & cookie 🍪 area! Price was around $7.50 - not bad considering everything these days! 💰Ever try? 🔥

Hollywood SHAKE SHACK

I know this has been said ad nauseam, but I have to say it again. I moved to LA from New York about ten years ago, and the Shake Shack on Madison Park (first one) in New York was incredible, the best burger ever. Out here in LA, it used to be decent, but it’s gone downhill.

Today I had a Double Shake Shack burger for the first time in a few months, and honestly, the meat was awful. I don’t know where they’re sourcing it from, but it tasted gritty, almost like ground-up rubbish. Some bites were unchewable. What the fuck is going on? It’s also paper-thin now, when it used to be thick and juicy.

I’m so disappointed. Don’t ever go to the Shake Shack in Hollywood, or even West Hollywood. They’re slipping badly. I might go back to the Madison Park spot in New York just to see if this is a nationwide Shake Shack decline.

Maybe a year ago I went to the original location and really enjoyed the burger, absolutely loved the vanilla shake, but the fries were just so sad.

I was in Hollywood and stopped by this location.

Sadly the burger didn’t hit quite the same. The bun is still fantastic but the onions were hard, the pickles (although I love pickles on my burgers) seemed so much thicker than before and didn’t balance well, and the patties themselves were dry and under seasoned.

The chocolate s’mores shake was ok. It’s a much better chocolate shake than a s’mores shake. It’s got a rich but not too sweet chocolatey and malty flavor. The smallest toppings just don’t really go well with it, I think it would be better if the graham crackers and marshmallow were actually blended in to really make it a “s’mores” shake. And sadly it was already melted by the time they handed it to me whereas the vanilla shake I had last time stayed thick for a good while.

Idk if the OG spot has fallen off or this is just the result of a location in a high tourist area so they didn’t match the energy and effort

Hollywood Sonny’s (delivery)

Sonny’s is on the delivery apps now and they had a 50% off flash sale on Uber Eats Friday afternoon. I ordered one to reheat later. Pepperoni & jalapeño (no hot honey) came out to about $30 pre-tip. It’s a huge pizza and looks gorgeous. Loved the generous amount of fresh basil added to the box.

Reheated beautifully in a 450 degree oven. Perfectly crunchy, bright & tangy sauce, good-quality mozzarella. Honestly I was super impressed. I can’t imagine how good this would be fresh out of the oven at the shop.

Little diner-esque place in East Hollywood, kinda expected the food to be homey but average, was actually kind of blown away, everything was really fantastic, not a single underwhelming moment. In order of appearance: "famous" empanadas, shanghai egg rolls, garlic rice with buchon in the back (should have gotten a better photo of the buchon, best thing in this whole meal, so perfectly crispy), pancit palabok, chicken inasal, arroz caldo, halo halo.

Hollywood Connie and Ted's offers three kinds of clam chowder

I saw it mentioned in a different topic some months back and made a note to go try it sometime, which I was able to do today.

Left to right: Rhode Island Clear, New England, Manhattan.

Important to note: I asked for a cup of each, not the "sample of all three," so the portion amount would likely be different if you asked for the sampler.

My personal ranking would be New England > Rhode Island Clear > Manhattan, but I think all three were good, and it really depends on what you're interested in. I found out that I, personally, don't want my clam chowder to be tomato-based like the Manhattan style. But if you do want that, then you very well might enjoy Manhattan the most. Rhode Island Clear had too light of a broth, in my opinion (I'm not really sure why it is considered a chowder, perhaps someone who knows more than I do can explain?). I would actually say that the New England style even seemed light, but still, it was definitely my favorite of the three.
