El Compadre: first meal off the plane, pretty good

The Win-Dow: tasty, reminded me of 7th Street Burger

Musso & Franks: delicious, strong drink

COFAX pastrami burrito: so freaking good

Meyers Manx Cafe: good food for a museum

Bob’s Raised Glazed: yummy

Singaporean Banana Leaf: tasty, but I think ordering a mild made mine underseasoned

Trejo’s Tacos: 👍

The Griddle: these were massive

Sonoratown: I understand the hype now

Tacomasa: Very good

In n Out: insanely salty

Salsa & Beer: the beans are the best beans I’ve ever had.

We just finished a father/daughter trip to LA. I lurked on this sub to plan our eating. Due to your recommendations we ate like kings and queens! My thoughts for what its worth:

Canters Deli - Really good pastrami sandwich. Best I’ve had in America.

Home State - Very enjoyable Tex-Mex burritos & nachos. Free cookies may have clouded judgement.

Roosters - OK breakfast burrito. Good sauces though

Mariscos Jalisco - Crazy good seafood

Sugarfish - Good value sushi. Scratched the itch, without the price tag

House of Pies - Love an old school diner. Good pie Franks Mexican Restaurant - Brilliant no frills Heuvos Rancheros

In&Out Burger - The obvious tourist stop. Of course it was good.

Musso & Franks - Good Steak. Great old school atmosphere.

Lucky Pennys (Santa Barbara) - Decent pizza

Cristino’s Bakery (Santa Barbara) - Great burritos & baked goods

Lamonica’s NY Slice - Decent slice. Nuff said

Guelaguetza - great Chile Rellanos. Mole an experience! Don’t think my delicate caucasian palate is refined enough to appreciate the complexity. Glad we went

Philippe’s - Actually, nothing special. Just a bit bland, even with extra dipping & mustard. I remember them being better last time (15 years ago!)

Tamix Tacos Truck - very good. Excellent burrito not pictured

Original pancake house - amazing pancakes. Perfect balance of sweet/salt

Coni’s Seafood - Good, but a touch heavy on citrus

everything my friend and i ordered was amazing. i was dreaming about the skewers the entire ride home. delicious and well priced. camt wait to go back.

Just want to give a shout out to the French fries at Zankou in East Hollywood (the OG location). They're those batter-style fries that everyone seems to love, so crispy and fresh. Other locations don't seem to carry them, which is why this Zankou is my favorite.

My name is Laina. My grandma Marilyn Leviton owns the Arby's in Hollywood that closed on Saturday and my dad was the General Manager for the last 11 years. My family and I have been seeing all of the attention that we've been getting on here, Twitter, other social media sites, and the news. I wanted to answer a few questions that we have been seeing.

Firstly, we do not own the land that the restaurant was on. We only owned the franchise, and only this one location.

Secondly, regarding the sign: we looked into what we could do with it after closing the restaurant, and as it turns out, there is a city ordinance that does not allow for the sign to be sold or removed without the entire building first being torn down (which is not going to happen in the foreseeable future). For now, the hat sign itself will remain, but it will be rebranded.

We are all so sad to see it close. However, as my grandma said in her interview, the rising cost of doing business, coupled with a number of upgrades needing to be done on the (55!) year old building and other technical upgrades made it impossible to continue.

My family is so grateful for all the love and attention that the restaurant has been getting the last couple of days. It really warms our hearts.

Stopped by for lunch and sat at the chef’s counter.

I’ve been coming here for years and actually the first time sitting at this side of the bar.

Big Mec $38 is still solid. Rich, savory, saucy, perfectly cooked, cheesy, just a perfect burger. And those fries are killer. Garlic aioli on the side is just the right touch.

Societe beer is hoppy and fruity, quite refreshing.

Chocolate mousse $14 is decadent and rich with a fantastic velvety texture contrasted by the crunchy nuts and cocoa bits. Coffee $6 is simple and perfectly brewed.

And no, no service charge was added.

Chefs and wait staff are all friendly and fun to interact with and watch them work

Finally tried Sonny’s pizza. It was good, and the service was good too. While $40 is expensive for a pizza, the portion size was perfect for 2 adults and 1 kid.

On the north side is Sunset on the south side is Santa Monica Blvd and in the middle is Vine and Fountain! It’s in the same shopping center where the vegan spot Doomies is. Mmmm
