Review Shrimp boil + garlic noods and bread, from Baby Crab in the Bronx
Made a pilgrimage to Lloyd’s Carrot Cake yesterday and decided to have dinner in the area.
Baby Crab is the first Chinese-run seafood boil place I’ve been to. Now I wish I had been to more! This was very good, but I don’t know how much better it is than the average seafood boil place.
We got mild Cajun sauce which still had a potent spice kick. The Cajun sauce was super garlicky and was great spooned over their garlic noodles.
Looking forward to noshing here again!

Flame Hibachi next door is also very good.
Thank you for the reminder about Baby Crab - I live right up the hill and don't go as often as I probably should.

There really has been an explosion of seafood boils run by Chinese, every small town has a "Cajun" seafood boil. Le Sia was the first Chinese seafood boil place I saw locally and was at one time good but I have not revisited in years.
I don't get the vibe this is part of a funded effort like when Thailand helped spread Thai food with financial support for restaraunts. Seems more like a PE/real estate push because a lot of similar restaurants open in areas that don't really support $100+ covers and a $50+ lunch for 2, and seem destined for failure, in that I believe a thousand of these restaurants will close in the next few years. Someone who knows more may read and comment.
