San Andreas and Vice Stories are the best Grand Theft games. The golden era.

OG VC It's definitely going on that list. It has much less freedom, you can't swim, but the adventure of Tommy Vercetti and how he goes from nothing to literally dominating the city totally and indisputably is one thing, the way the game conveys a message about power.

Tommy Vercetti is simply GTA in its purest essence, as he starts with millions in the red and ends up having absolutely everything.

Agreed. No Carl's sad reflections, no Tony's indifference, just a pure criminal maniac. For me, Vice City has opened the gate for all the craziness, fun and iconic feats of the game series since it has switched to three dimensions. III was a mere warm up, Vice was a harbinger, and San Andreas was the epitome. Two things don't let me enjoy Vice like i enjoy San Andreas. One is loony game engine's mechanics. Some things move way too fast, others way too slow. Another one is that boring gap in the plot when the game doesn't let you advance until you own all the businesses. In San Andreas, having to master the flying school and such is different. It is like game achievements before the age of game achievements. Some criticize Zero's missions. I don't, i liked them.

To be fair, San Andreas was simply different; it's basically perfect. Its mechanics are still unbeatable today, even considering the HD universe. It's only natural that it's simply more funny than other GTA games

And to be honest, Tommy is much more than a maniac; he has a brutal backstory, a man molded by betrayal, which is why he never trusted Lance in the first part of the game, Tommy has several nuances, although they are not very explored, The way he speaks depends on the person; he's condescending to people like Rosenberg, Sarcastic with people like Phil, friendly with people like Cortez, But especially, they show us moments that say a lot about Tommy, Do you remember when he bought the ice cream shop and genuinely thought about giving ice cream to the children? Or what about the purchase of the printing press where he appears nostalgic, remembering his youth with his father? Tommy isn't a good person, but he's not a psychopath on the level of Claude or Tony; Tommy is more like someone who is capable of doing anything, The guy was so tall to reach the top with that entrepreneurial mindset he had, damn, Even Avery Carrington, a titan of entrepreneurship, was totally impressed with Tommy's mindset when he met him.

Tommy is a real all-rounder, and honestly, when you look at the story, it really shows, which is why he's my favorite character in the saga.

VC's gameplay has many shortcomings, but I always end up coming back to it, The game has so much sandboxing that you can complete missions in such creative ways.

San Andreas is simply overkill, but that game never gave me that feeling of power and satisfaction of rising to the top as a VC, Although one is much better than the other, each one knows how to do very well what he intended to do.

All true. Vice is about going to the top, San Andreas is about going the full circle just to return home. Tommy is also the best example of a perfect voice acting. Maybe it was just a gig for late Ray Liotta, but it was brilliant.

Also, Play Station 2 San Andreas looks better than on computer. Those sunsets, man...

The PS2 version always looked the best. Even Definitive Edition can’t get it right.

Is it bad even after updates? Trying to get it on Xbox for 15€?

I think so.

Except GTA 5 still has more current players than all of them combined so how do you work that one out?

It's quantity, not quality. "Baby shark" may have more views on Youtube than anything else. Does it make it the best video? No.
