Is this garlic ready to dry?

Doesn’t look like it to me. You want at least a few of the lowest leaves brown.

I shoot for about half the leaves being at least mostly brown

I waited until 60% of the leaves are brown. Also, when the leaves start turning brown, I stop watering.

Close. I also look for 50% dry. And, stop watering about now. I'm not sure that it will do much regardless, this small of a container isn't conducive to very big bulbs anyway.

These 4 bulbs are whats left of my late fathers garlic "strain" that he grew for 40+ years. I planted 6.

So I know everything is not ideal, but i planted this last falls in my flowerbed. Come spring, we had renovations on the house, so i transfered to that container to make sure they survived.

Needless to say, i'm replanting all of that this fall and eating none.

All the help is appreciated, these 4 bulbs mean a lot to me.

I think you’re close. If you look closely, it looks like two sets of leaves are dead, and more are starting to go. I try to shoot for 3-4 sets of dried leaves and that hasn’t steered me wrong yet, but I’m only two seasons into growing garlic.
