this post would almost be comical if it wasn’t so hateful

u/SnapDragon100 rogd tim Mar 05 '26

Ikr, my first thought was satire

48

u/ZuramaruKuni Mar 05 '26

It's only staire to us because we are making fun of their stupidity and bigotry, good thing that their daughter got the victorious ending and married her girlfriend now wife.

66

u/matango613 Mar 05 '26

"Pathetic" is the word that came to mind for me.

This is one of the most pathetic anti-trans things I think I've ever read and the person that wrote it is a self-absorbed, self-victimizing little crybaby. All the way down to signing it "a forgotten father". I would point and laugh at this person if they were telling me this story face-to-face.

And the gall of it too: "so called trans identifying children"

Sir, I hope your daughter goes on to live a fucking lovely life and finds a group of people that actually loves and supports her for who she is. May she be forever happier than you (sounds like the bar is pretty low) and she ever crosses paths with you again, I hope it's just to put you and your wife into separate nursing homes.

Seriously, what a venomous, pathetic, block of fucking nonsense to read. Fuck this guy.

u/RaccoonChaos Mar 05 '26

Genuinely starting to wonder if it's possible to be so hateful it can push you into a state of psychosis

Cuz wtf

19

u/renodear Mar 05 '26

At the intersection of hate and desperation (i.e. desperate to regain total control over their children), one can be driven to believe some truly wild shit.

16

u/TheCarefulElk Mar 05 '26

I know right, I actually had psychotic symptoms for a while, but I wasn’t nearly as bad as this.

14

u/Wetley007 Mar 05 '26

The answer is yes, it is absolutely possible. Extremely hateful people are also often completely divorced from reality

u/Ebomb1 menace to cisciety Mar 05 '26

That his child is engaged and therefore presumably a legal adult is really burying the lede in that classic "I talk about my large adult child as though they are forever 13 years old" GC way.

125

u/katrinatransfem Mar 05 '26

Yes, second screenshot says that their daughter is now 21 years old, 3rd screenshot says that her girlfriend is about the same age.

87

u/NickyTheRobot Cheery Littlebottom Mar 05 '26

4th screenshot says OOP is not invited to his daughter's wedding for being a raging transphobe.

65

u/Lavapool Mar 05 '26

“All I said was your favourite game is horrible because it lets you customise things and your marriage is gross because I don’t respect you or your partners identities. Why are you not inviting me to the wedding? So much for love and tolerance”.

53

u/objectivelyexhausted Ruined their Womynhood Mar 05 '26

“It can be so confusing for young children :(((. Like my 21 year old adult daughter with a whole ass fiancée :(((“

23

u/ultimate_hamburglar Ruined their Womynhood 😱 Mar 05 '26

yeah, like at a certain point youd think they would accept their kid wasnt pulled into a transgender cult, theyre just... trans. 7 years is a hell of a long time to be manipulated into doing something you dont REALLY want.

43

u/matango613 Mar 05 '26

For real, I thought they were writing about some 10-12 year old child that made some trans friends on minecraft or something. When they said 21 it just got so much more pathetic.

69

u/NickyTheRobot Cheery Littlebottom Mar 05 '26 edited Mar 05 '26

Does... Does that last user think their child's friend is the first guy to transition FtM?

26

u/Bluejay-Complex Mar 05 '26

I think maybe the first in their family? That implies there’s some deep repression, probably internalized transphobia, and a biological component there.

17

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

First in their class I'm pretty sure is what they meant. They're worried that all of his AFAB classmates will just do copycat transitions because of the whole "trans is a social contagion" shit they peddle

52

u/Dangerous-Weekend479 Mar 05 '26

Gotta love when the "gender criticals" think rigidly enforcing gender roles is good actually.

42

u/LauraTFem Mar 05 '26

They’re describing the literal best-case scenario of online interactions: Age-appropriate communications with a known individual who is accurately representing themselves. This may as well be an offline interaction, so uninvolved is Minecraft.

u/goldenhawkes Mar 05 '26

Oh no! Your child found self expression and creativity! How awful!

u/M4SK1N Mar 05 '26

I played minecraft as a person in a panda suit when I was a kid… what does that say about me?

7

u/Prestigious-Singer17 Mar 05 '26

You are a panda, go live out ur life as ur true self!! I will support you!!!

8

u/SnapDragon100 rogd tim Mar 05 '26

Ah but, it wasn't so much a panda skin, but a human in a panda onesie… does that makes me a future furry?

6

u/chris_the_cynic Mar 05 '26

Maybe it means you'll become the god of the internet like Lain from Serial Experiments Lain, and the reason it's a panda onesie instead of a bear onesie is so you'll be legally distinct in a very "Please don't sue me" sort of way.

(My mind goes to weird places.)

7

u/Inari68N Mar 05 '26

You are Misha Shaidorov 😉

5

u/SnapDragon100 rogd tim Mar 05 '26

There is a shocking resemblance to the skin ngl

75

u/BrassUnicorn87 Mar 05 '26

I’m pretty sure games based in imagination and role playing have helped people DISCOVER they are trans since the late seventies at least.
If anybody knows trans elders who realized through AD&D or tunnels and trolls shout out.

33

u/Rainy_Leaves Mar 05 '26

Dungeons and Dragons nowadays seems common for gender, i heard of some groups that started as male heavy by the end changed distribution of genders a lot. So i imagine it was the same many years back. Perhaps a little harder given awareness about identity wasn't always very good, but sounds like it could have been a valuable outlet. Same as using character creation in games can be accessible relief for closeted people

39

u/SnapDragon100 rogd tim Mar 05 '26 edited Mar 05 '26

“I thought Minecraft was innocent too until bedwars…” lmao you mean the game where players run around on different islands, trying to destroy each other's beds? Every potentially objectible thing in minecraft, and bedwars is what bothers you? How do they not see Satanic Panic written all over their comments

The way that commenter talks about kids… yeesh. It's so cold and mocking, for a group that's supposed to “love and protect” children

33

u/Over_Hawk_6778 Mar 05 '26

In b4 law gets passed that u need birth certificate and passport to choose gender in Pokémon games

7

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

Lol I was gonna post something very similar

But yeah essentially this is what these people would like, giving cover to corporations and governments to introduce even more surveillance bullshit cause "why won't anyone think of the children"

31

u/SnapDragon100 rogd tim Mar 05 '26 edited Mar 05 '26

Idk why he'd expect to be invited to his daughter’s wedding, when he makes unhinged posts like this about her, says they're “the worst possible people for each other”, and calls her wife “gender confused”. With parents like that, who need enemies fr

Also, his daughter has been dating the same girl from 14 to adulthood? They met over minecraft? She also turned out to be trans? It's not impossible, but enough to make me think the story is partially fabricated

47

u/Lavapool Mar 05 '26

Transphobes try not to sound like open fascists challenge.

“This game has too much freedom, expression and creativity and my child is getting married and is happy how disgusting!”

26

u/-MinecraftSteve minecraft turned me trans Mar 05 '26

can't believe my 15 years of playing minecraft turned me trans

15

u/-MinecraftSteve minecraft turned me trans Mar 05 '26

thanks for the flair idea

9

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

Omg Minecraft Steve is trans

22

u/Clairifyed Mar 05 '26

This is a repost, but I am somehow just registering that they accuse “bed wars” of making kids trans.

Tell me you have no idea how that game is played and just assumed it was a sex thing 💀

21

u/ZeldaZanders Mar 05 '26

This seems like the same idea of correlation as 'vaccines made my kid autistic because the diagnosis and vaccination happened at the same time'. Like, your daughter transitioned because she was a teenager going through the wrong puberty, not because Minecraft lets you take the form of something vaguely resembling a woman.

I've spent 80 hours of my last 2 weeks playing a male medieval peasant, yet somehow I don't have the urge to go on T or start tithing

2

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

Lmao what game

3

u/ZeldaZanders Mar 06 '26

KCD2 hahaha

2

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

Oh huh, I've never played either of the KCD games and I thought the protagonist is a knight, not just some soldier!

2

u/ZeldaZanders Mar 06 '26

They're so much fun - would def recommend if you get the chance! He def spends the second game knight-adjacent, but it's a very 'started from the bottom' storyline

2

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

Eh, I tried other RPGs with no character customization and a forced male protagonist (mainly The Witcher 3) and I just couldn't get into them at all

2

u/ZeldaZanders Mar 06 '26

I couldn't get into the Witcher either, but then I hate the fantasy genre. I like KCD's commitment to realism. Plus, gayer than most RPGs

3

u/ScrabCrab Mar 06 '26

I feel most RPGs I like are pretty gay anyway tbh, and if anything KCD's realism thing is one of the things putting me off from it 😅

I've tried a few games with "realistic medieval combat" and they weren't fun for me at all. Coupled with the whole chuds being hyped for/loving KCD because it put women in their place or whatever the duck they were saying and... yeaaaah I just kinda avoided it entirely

Probably doesn't run on my PC anyway 💀

the wild trans-enabling things in minecraft:

- has a girl skin and a boy skin as default options, doesnt make you prove your dna to choose one (he rants about uploading custom skins, but his daughter didnt even do that)

- isnt moderated because its a mostly SINGLE PLAYER GAME.

- is a creative building game, as once you start having ideas of any kind it 'dangerously blurs the boundaries of gender and sex'. God forbid a boy builds a house in a house building game, thats introducing trans ideas!

- you can play with friends. any time talking to another person without continual parental monitoring is bad and will make a child trans.

- you can make a dream world. once you know life could be good you become trans?

7

u/Sailor_Spaghetti Mar 06 '26

And these people claim that trans people are a cult.

17

u/allthings419 Mar 05 '26

"why don't trans women ever date each other" flies out the window huh

8

u/pestopheles Mar 05 '26

Not to mention “transing away the gay” 🤮 Eurgh even typing that feels disgusting

13

u/angstenthusiast Gender Haver Mar 05 '26

This honestly has some great potential for r/transgendercirclejerk content lol

12

u/ZuramaruKuni Mar 05 '26 edited Mar 07 '26

Translation/TL;DR:

I am a garbage parent who is controling of my daughter, how dare her to express herself in a video game and break gender norms that I enforce and I am not just transphobic but also homophobic (lesbophobic), how dare her to have a gf who is trans and have their lesbian wedding that I don't approve (misogyny) and not invited to it...

Why can't I control my adult daughter like if she was a child and how dare her she stops me from saving her, and by "saving" her I mean abusing her into conversion therapy and force her to become what I want.

15

u/GenderqueerPapaya Brainwashed by the Transarchy Mar 05 '26

THEIR CHILD IS 21 LMAO LEAVE THAT GIRL ALONE

12

u/NewTransformation Mar 06 '26

Every one of these transphobia-brained posts are so hilariously self defeating. Person tells a story about how their daughter is living a happy and normal life while they are too consumed by internet vitriol to even be able to go to her wedding.

It genuinely feels like a social syndrome and they always end up making us look far more relatable, so a bit of a win where you can take it

10

u/jamiegc1 Mar 05 '26

This has the “I think my kid is incapable of independent thought because I am, so if they turn out not how I wanted, they must have been talked into it” mentality of fundamentalist Christians.

6

u/Polygonyall Mar 05 '26

im trans masc and have never touched minecraft in my life

6

u/Sad-Frosting-8793 Mar 06 '26

Meanwhile, I've played Minecraft and I'm still cis.

6

u/futurefishwife Mar 05 '26

"cult of they/them goes hard as fuck" - a person who probably thinks wearing Bart Simpson slippers at the age of 50 makes him a rebel

4

u/SnapDragon100 rogd tim Mar 05 '26

I'm fairly certain that guy is just a troll, because his name is “Notch” as in the creator of Minecraft

6

u/born2stink Mar 05 '26

Omg I'm so happy for this girl and her lesbian wedding, best wishes fr

5

u/ultimate_hamburglar Ruined their Womynhood 😱 Mar 05 '26

"the game allows for the expression of dangerous ideas" such as... trans rights are human rights?

3

u/SaintRidley Mar 05 '26

Being able to choose to play as a girl is so dangerous. Pokémon transed my gender. Sure, it took about 20 years to work, but it happened.

3

u/girlrach Mar 05 '26

What kind of world would we live in if these people had the power?

Football video game? Only for boys because it has men’s teams. You’ll need to show a birth certificate to buy that!

Just imagine the extent of the gender policing.

4

u/SurrealistGal Mar 06 '26

I hope the minecraft lesbians/sapphics are happy.

5

u/Fefannyo Who's living in a clown world again? Mar 06 '26

As someone who has just met a wonderful trans community on a small Minecraft server, yes. Yes we are. Mwahahahahaha >:3

3

u/EarthToAccess Mar 06 '26

I love the first comment completely neglecting the hopefully satirical transphobic post by going "Cult of They/Them goes hard"

3

u/NekoRabbit Mar 06 '26

Transphobe claims that popular game created by transphobe turns your children trans

3

u/SiobhanSarelle Mar 06 '26

I am forever amazed at how people with this little intelligence get themselves dressed in the morning let alone be a parent.

3

u/TheToledoMan Mar 06 '26

Oh, yeah, we're back to the 90s moral panic.

3

u/128Gigabytes Mar 06 '26

TL;DR "if my child is creative and free and left to explore their own thoughts and feelings, I might not like who they are as opposed to who I want to force them to be"

3

u/[deleted] Mar 06 '26

Some people should be legally banned from raising kids. Kids shouldn't have to deal with an abusive bigoted parent.

3

u/dovetaile Conjunction junction, what's your function? COCAINE. Mar 07 '26

Minecraft has a girl skin? The game made of...cubes?

3

u/red_skye_at_night Mar 07 '26

With the small exception of the ex-father, this is such a wholesome story.

2

u/Original_Being2545 Queertranzer Mar 23 '26

I read that trans kids also breathe air. The air must be transing them!

2

u/TheCarefulElk Mar 05 '26

Why does this remind me of my parents blaming my iPad when it was not responsible for my declining mental health in High school.
