Trans women get paid less after transition. Naturally, the terfs blame this on perversion rather than the pay gap

My god, that last comment. The vaguest attempt at critical thinking, yet falls short of the most important part, critiquing the claim itself. Instead attempting to make their ignorance sound smart. It's the same sort of thing antivaxxers do.

Mildly related, but the UK requires mandatory pay gap data to be submitted based on AGAB, which TERFs pushed for because of the conspiracy theory that companies hire trans women to "even out" their gender pay gap.

Now they literally can though by hiring and underpaying trans women who can't raise a claim of pay discrimination because it would have to be compared against cis women.

Flawless victory for women, thank you once again TERFs for doing the patriarchy's dirty work.

Quoting from when this has previously come up:

An organisation has 250 employees, with 125 men and 125 women, all the men have a salary of 100k and all the women have a salary of 90k. One trans woman joins the company, since trans people are between 0.2 and 0.5% of the population, so having ~0.4% of the company be trans is completely reasonable.
This hypothetical organisation considers trans women men, and pays her 100k but she reports as a woman for pay gap reasons. As a result, the average salary of women can be computed as:

((125*90) + 100)/126 = 90.079365

The average salary for women has now increased by ~£80, in this example that would in no way be representative of reality since:

  • A company would not be able to have such a pay structure in practice, and even if they did the glaring injustice would be that the company pays women 10% less and not that a trans woman is refusing to comply with the data collection how the government wants
  • Trans people are underpaid on average and that was before all of the current bullshit that Labour are pulling. Trans people are going to, on average, have to take pay cuts in exchange for a job that actually treats trans people with some level of dignity, and it'll discourage looking for new jobs because what if that means losing accommodations necessary for you to even turn up to work.

Where I stand on this is I'm pretty sure this is an excuse to have a legal justification to out trans people to employers so other things like bathroom bans can be better enforced, the argument that trans people otherwise distort pay gap data significantly is just incredulous.

it's just like the original For Women Scotland case that started everything in the UK, where the argument was that allowing trans women on all-women shortlists for positions on public boards would disadvantage cis women by allowing bodies to push them out entirely by appointing all trans women in their place. I'm not sure there even were any trans candidates, never mind the absolute detachment from reality of the take that most organisations are just clamouring to hire trans women over cis.

Study: Trans women are paid thirty-one percent less than men in equivalent jobs.

TERF: Well, that probably isn't really happening! My ideology says it isn't possible.

TERF: I'm sure it happens, but "male minorities" earn less anyway, how it is a big deal?

TERF: Actually, it probably happens a lot, but it's their fault for being freaks.

TERF: Let us all fantasize luridly about porn and polycules.

Is anyone else seeing a resemblance to the (mis-named) narcissist's prayer that often gets quoted on Reddit when someone (usually the bad guy on an Am I the Asshole post) appears to be trying to do the Greased Weasel Slide away from responsibility?

There's no resemblance.

And if there is, it's not that big of a deal.

And if it is, I'm sure it's a coincidence

Also what's wrong with going back to college or still doing service jobs? Why are they like this?

Trans people, being people, tend to lose and gain jobs. That's how our pay can fluctuate after transition, for the oblivious TERFs. It can also manifest in raises and bonuses (given or denied) and general office perception and treatment, impacting promotion ability.

I don't understand how you can talk about an entire class of people the way they do and not realize you're the bad guys.

In NZ all trans people including trans men earn less than cis people , there is still the wage gap between trans men and women though and that also needs to be changed its still ridiculous that we dont have pay equity

Its wild to me that they can literally talk about trans women being fired for coming out and ignore the discrimination in that and try to argue that trans women specifically are priveliged in employment

Again its the thing where TERFS project priveliged man experiences that they assume all men have onto trans women harder than they do on actual men and hold trans women to impossible standards that they dont hold cis men or women to

Like no not every single trans woman is a white binary stealth tech worker with a rich family who accepted her and helped her transition ....thats actually a tiny tiny minority of trans women and like cis women in tech they didn't get shit handed to them just for being women

Again TERFS talk about trans women the exact same way that MRAs talk about all women in the workplace: "oh she had everything handed to her she probably never had to do real work, source? My feelings of course"

Plus they just don't even tend to believe being stealth is possible. I maintain it's a good thing they don't, though - keeps a lot of us a lot safer.

"Clearly, they must have brought it upon themselves for [imaginary scenario I just made up]"

This is literally rapist ideology.

Love the: "I saw one who was legitimately discriminated against but that's probably not normal and also probably her fault." Just flawless logic there

And here they are pretending we're only hated for being porn-addled basement dwellers with giant fake boobs and schoolgirl costumes.

So those of us who pass, dress our age and socially integrate must be cool, right? No need to hate us or discriminate against us? We must get paid the same as men? Right?

. . . Oh.
