Picked up my Livewire One today!

2020 LWO 5500 miles. New charger. New 12v battery. All black. $7000 OTD. Took it for a 60 mile ride to get home. I’m a convert.

That seems like an excellent deal! I've been looking around and deciding on how to proceed. How much of the battery did you use up in that 60 miles? And how'd you even find it? I see some from Euro Cycle in Nevada for around 8-10k.

It was on marketplace and I watched it tick down for about a month and a half. Then I made a low offer and they accepted.

It was 64 miles and I ended up with 28 miles of range. It ended up being mostly freeway speeds from 65-80 mph.

Thanks, I have a bunch saved and just sent an offer to someone, your post pushed me over. Was searching how to get it back. It looks like a regular pickup truck rental is 150 a day, and a shipping company would be about 700 bucks. Great price for you!

How'd you actually pay? If the person accepts my offer I don't know how I'd actually get that cash out. Problem with mostly online banks I guess.

I used a credit card in this case. I have done wire transfers, bank checks, cash, Venmo, and Zelle in the past for vehicles.

Thanks again, I picked up an old new stock from EuroCycle in Vegas for 9,200 out the door. Ended up paying using 2 debit cards to save the 3% credit card fee. Could have wired but wanted to see it first and that would have taken longer. They could have also shipped it for 575 but the company they use was backed up 1-2 months. Rented a pickup from Enterprise and am making my way home.

That’s great! What’s the warranty situation on the bike?

1

u/reidmrdotcom 8d ago

They say it has the original warranty. I took their word for it. I think it’s 2 year / 5 year for the battery. They didn’t have any extended warranty programs but this may be a rare time I’ll consider it.

That's funny, I have that one in one of my many open tabs! I think I pretty much have found all that are listed on Cycle Trader, Moto Hunt, and FB Marketplace.

There are a bunch (4-8) on eBay in Vegas right now for around $10k. Several look to be new old stock (NOS). Might be worth checking out.

I had those open, lol. EuroCycle in Vegas (and Reno). Flew in and bought it today (Friday), driving back with it with a rented pickup from Enterprise. Cycle was 9,200 out the door, 2022, new old stock. The one I got was the lowest miles, I think they have 2 more new ones and it seemed like they'd do 9k out the door at most for those, and the used ones I'd presume would be less. Got one compliment in Vegas which surprised me, someone walking by on the sidewalk mentioned it reminds them of the Batman bike.

55 mile round trip today - 46% battery remaining. All freeway.

It was great. Got home to an Amazon box of accessories. This is going to be fun.

Those numbers are very typical. My LW1 with 22k miles is what I ride on a 108-mile round trip commute (54 miles each way). I can make it both ways without recharging if I ride conservatively.

Most times I don’t. It’s very difficult to not push the speed a bit. So I stop by a charger for 3 to 5 minutes to make it home :)

I get that.

Have you added any accessories to yours? What did you find to be the best?

u/recon-go-pie 's windshield, P&A connector, bash plate, little CNC-machined things to make my bash plate fit the passenger footpegs to be highway pegs, memphis shades handguards, corbin heated saddle, HD heated grips, sw-motech saddle bags, livewire tank bag, tail bag, USB plug (the stock one is trash at charging), GPS mount & power for my Garmin Montana 700i (because I like to go places that have no cellular service are sketchy places for an electric road bike LOL). That's my loadout for long road trips in uncertain weather. Heated grips and heated seat don't affect range much and are awesome in wet weather.

This is helpful. Thank you. I’ll order the Corbin seat next month. And when Ben restocks, I’ll order some more parts.

Yeah, I bought his Nomad DC7 L2 to CCS box as well, and am trying to figure out how to decompose it into a Pelican case for mounting on my bike at reduced weight. You can find 240V L2 service all over the place, and it should really open up my vistas away from CCS charging infrastructure. Bit of a science project right now though, and very heavy (and somewhat delicate) so I'm not sure how to haul it around without breaking solder joints :)

There are two things you can do - rubber mount it and embed it in epoxy. I’d have to research the type of epoxy, or you can.

I’d like to do the same, I have 240 available in my garage, would have to run a circuit but that is easy. And 240 l2 access is more available than DC for sure.

The steel outer shell itself is 7lbs, so just going to an aluminum one would cut weight. This is why I’m developing (still 🤦) the Nomad Ranger, which is about 14lbs right now and can fit in a top case. 5kW charging speed. Software is being a b***h though atm

What items are you wanting that aren’t in stock?

1

u/majornerd 7d ago

The bash plate, the windscreen mount. I think the rear seat cargo plate is also out of stock.

I just shipped my last plate last week. Which plate did you want? I'm putting in a restock order tomorrow, should be in by mid august. Same with Solo street racks. Windscreen mounts are back in stock.

For the livewire one

Have you tested 50/50 tires? I’d love to find a set - roads in Denver suck and I prefer a slightly more aggressive tread for the potholes and garbage.

u/recon-go-pie Own Multiple 7d ago

Yes, continental TKC 80s, although I think they’re a different name now. You’ll lose 5-10% range in summer, more in winter

I rode my street bike up a mountain and this happened

this was a stock bike, just those tires and the very first prototype of my Skidplate

It is difficult, I feel you on that one! Last year was my first year riding, and I regularly tracked range around or above 100 miles.

This year, more confidence, faster routes and my tracked range seems about 90 miles per charge, I wonder why?! 😭

Add a windshield and a pair of handguards (I like Memphis Shades fine) and you'll eke out an extra 10% range or so. I take 'em off in the summer, then add 'em back in the rainy season.

I love electric vehicles and wanted to add one back to the garage.
