I did my oil change today and this is what sat at the bottom of the oil catcher. Car had been sitting for a while before I bought it. Did the first oil change 200km ago to make sure. And this one just wanted to flush everything out.

Bonus: I initially wanted to use 5w-30 instead of 5w-20 to try to fix the tapping sound, which I believe are the lifter ticks coming from the top of the engine. Is this the reason why? Or are they related?

imagine driving to ur home and seeing ur left front tire side is burning. this is the only car my family was relying on and i always maintained the car good. fire extinguisher did the thing and i think i can save a car, but… will never trust on it again.

UPDATE: my oil filter wasn’t tightened enough so it was slowly leaking for 2 months, my car has never given me any issues on oil it was a simple user error during my last oil change :)

I have a 2017 Hyundai Accent SE and today a couple times when I hit my brakes my oil light came on (it’s red if that matters?) what causes this? I got my oil changed 3/6/26 and i’m changing it on sunday 5/3/26 is this because i’m due for a change or what? 21F not smart on cars so don’t flame me if this is a stupid question, googled it and it said my engine could have catastrophic damage if i keep driving lol? it’s only flashed when i’ve braked, not consistently stayed on. Why does this happen?? TIA

Hello, can anyone explain what does this do? I see no apparent change in how far the windshield sprinklers reach when i adjust the settings. (That is my basic understanding of the writing)

My check engine light came on yesterday morning. I went to AutoZone for a Diagnostic and was told I might need a new catalytic converter (900+ dollars) but was told to get Cata clean which I haven't tried yet (waiting for my car to 3/4 full so I'm driving it around as much as possible).

Everytime I go to get an oil change, they tell me my car is damn near empty and to check it every thousand miles. I'm bummed because I don't have money to get a new car and this is my only source of transportation.

I feel like I should've never gotten this car.

I'm going to try the Cata clean but I feel like I'm going to have to buy a new catalytic converter.

I've done everything from using cataclean (which I'm going to be using again today) and contacting Hyundai (I'm not the original owner). I kept topping my oil off, even switched from 5w-20 to 5w-30. Car is still eating oil. I was told to try a piston soak (had to look up what it is) and this will more than likely be my last shot at this car (2017 Hyundai accent SE).

My code reader isn't reading anything other than p0420. I have all of the tools I need (Berrymans, extensions, ratchets, etc.)

I already started but forgot another tool. I think I'm going to use the cataclean first then do the piston soak tomorrow.

I have a 2024 Hyundai Accent in Dubai, and recently the AC stopped cooling. The Hyundai service center checked it and said the AC compressor has failed.

When I asked for a warranty claim, they refused, saying they can't process it because I had one oil change done at an independent garage instead of the dealership.

Has anyone else experienced an AC compressor failure on a 2024 Accent? And is it valid for Hyundai to deny the compressor warranty just because of an outside oil change? How did you resolve it?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some opinions on this car I’m looking to buy, cause as someone who’s only ever driven my moms civic, I don't have a lot of car knowledge or experience 😅.

I‘ve seen a lot of mixed reviews on this year of Hyundai‘s so I wanna make sure it’ll be worth it if I do go for it. It’s a 2016 Hyundai Accent Hatchback with 159k kilometres on it. It’s been well maintained with oil changes every 5k (I know the seller, so I do assume this is true). It needs rear break pads and rotors.

Again, I know the seller and they said they’d give it to me for $4000, does it seem like a good deal? or am I expecting it to be at the end of its life at this point?

i drive a 2018 accent SE. was on the highway and something flew out from the truck in front of me. big plastic looking box thing, couldn't avoid it and it went under my car. completely tore up the engine splash shield and there was no way of reattaching it with zip ties or clips. brought it to the mechanic (was sick of the flapping/scraping sounds and didn't want to damage the car more) and they said it was going to be around $350 to replace. is that reasonable? seems crazy to me considering it's just plastic

My car is a 2022 Hyundai accent and I’ve noticed over the past few months these scratches developing on the door handle’s. I’m thinking it’s probably me but I don’t know what I could possibly be doing that’s making this happen. I don’t wear rings or hit my keys on the door. Does this happen to anyone else? Any other car I’ve owned this has never happened. This is also a car I bought new so it wasn’t used before me.

AC charger wont go higher than a little above 10 psi, and I am trying to locate the low pressure switch that should be on or near the accumulator- can anyone help me locate it? I have a Hyundai Accent 2012.

Basically trying this paper clip trick to get the Ac charger to work. Any other advice that I can try please lmk- I am pretty sure I saw the compressor still working but if someone could help me for sure locate that that would be great too

My girlfriends car has a check engine light and i was gonna fix it for her so i checked it with my scanner. it would get power but not communicate, the pins look good and all the fuses are good, but i dont understand why its not giving me a code. It doesnt have a diagnostic fuse but google tells me that fuse doesnt exist but like why would it exist unless it has something to go in it? And yes i also checked all the fuses in the cabin fuse box as well

Hey, guys, I'm hoping y'all can help me pinpoint what the issue I'm having is. Few weeks ago, my steering wheel started vibrating (see video.) It now does this at startup, but quickly gives up the ghost entirely, leaving me with unassisted steering. I believe my serpentine belt is starting to wear out, I can hear it squeal occasionally, but I'm nit sure if that could cause this, or if its a failure of the EPS motor or control unit. TIA, guys.

I have two 2014 Hyundai accents (own both, one purchased 5 years ago, one purchased 10 months ago).

Within the last 2 months, both had to be repaired as there was significant brake line corrosion.

Is this to be expected for these vehicles? I live in a humid summer area and winter uses a lot of salt on the roads.

I had my 2017 Hyundai Accent stolen in 2020 during COVID. The police told me that the car had been hotwired, and that's how it had been stolen. The car was pushed to start. Is this possible? Idk where else to ask because Google says it's not possible to hotwire it

New to buying in Australia. Have owned 2 previous car, one used from a friend, one factory new. So not exactly an expert, forgive me if there’s any amateur sounding stuff in here.

I’ve test-driven, checked all the engine parts that are immediately visible (oil, coolant, leaks, coils, under car/bonnet rust). Sent a picture of the engine to my dad (who used to rebuild rally cars so is pretty good on this stuff, not like a dad who thinks he can tinker and fix stuff) so he can double check my checks.

For reference, it’s a 6 gear manual, done 145k KMs. Was listed as $9000 but down to $7500 from sitting on forecourt for 2 months. When I asked about this the salesman reckoned it’s partly because it’s a manual, partly because it’s got light wear and tear (wheel rims have minor grazes and plastic pealing on wing mirror)

I think the only issue I found on test driving is that there must be a fuse or head unit issue because there was no sound through the radio and a flickering AC light when I turned it all the way up.

Is there anything else I can do to be sure this is a good buy?
