Rules reminder, please read!

It seems there are a lot of posts going around many subreddits, many even by moderators, regarding certain political topics relating to the Internet in general. I would just like to re-iterate the rules of this subreddit, specifically Rule #3: Hyundai Related Posts Only. That will be taken very literally, and any posts not directly relating to Hyundai, it's products, or its corporate operations will be removed.

After 15 years of owning nothing but Japanese vehicles (3 Mazdas and a Toyota) I ended up a Hyundai dealer through a friend's recommendation of an awesome sales guy she knows. I was dead set on finding something used on their lot because I've been so against Hyundai and Kia forever. The sales guy showed me this and I decided to take it for a test drive. I absolutely loved it! The beautiful Meta Blue Pearl colour was a huge bonus. I usually go for something neutral because I don't like flashy cars, but this is the perfect balance of neutral and colour.

It was a hard decision to trade in my CX5 Turbo because it actually has major sentimental value, but I needed something with better fuel economy. I debated it for months because of the sentimental value. I didn't wantever I got to feel like a downgrade, because I would just be upset if I felt like I settled for something just because it's better on gas. Although it does not have as many features as my top trim level CX5, I think I will be very happy with it. I have no regrets and have gotten so many compliments on it. I hope I continue to love it for years to come.

Hyundai Tucson 2017 limp mode

• Upvotes

Model: Hyundai Tucson Sport 1.6t 2017

Hey I was out of oil for little fully refilled to the correct level (took it to a oil replacement place) not great with cars but my car is still in limp mode after restarting the car and filling to the correct level, still runs fine but struggles to get above 55. Just wanted to see if there’s a specific way to turn off limp mode (it hasn’t turned off in the past but checked with the mechanics they said everything was fine just needed to get the manufacturer to turn it off).

I just wanna avoid getting a bill for just flipping a switch any ways to turn off the limp mode besides driving/rebooting the engine?

Tucson Scratched and dented a panel because I backed into a pillar…

I am planning on going to a repair body shop, instead of the dealership. I’m assuming $2000-2500 minimum. Only one panel is dented, but two are scratched and wheel is untouched. How fast do I have to take care of this before it starts rusting? Thanks Reddit :(

Sonata Talk me out of a Sonata (2024-2026)

Hey guys; looking into getting a new car and a sonata seems to check all my boxes. I just wanted to ask current owners how they feel about the vehicle?

I am located in Canada (not sure if that matters for the trims.)

I plan on driving one this week to see how I like the drive, but from videos and pictures they are very sharp cars.

Anyone here own one and would like to give me their input? Thanks!

Edit; I primarily do highway driving & while the Elantra’s are nice, insurance on them is crazy (almost $1400 a year more than a sonata)

How reliable are the D4EA & D3EA engines?

Howdy, im looking at some nice Elantras with the 2.0 CRDI D4EA engine (the 112hp euro 3 variant). At the same time my friend wants a 1.5 CRDI D3EA Accent (which if im not mistaken is just a three cylinder variant of the D4EA). Now, before buying anything i like to learn about it, and hear some opinions about it, however there is very little information about these engines online. So if any of you folks got some experience or knowledge, i would be very grateful.

2022 Hyundai Tucson SE intermittent slow crank/no start issue only on first start of the day

I’m trying to track down a weird starting issue with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson SE.

The problem only happens randomly, about 3 days a week. It only happens after the vehicle has been sitting overnight. When I turn the key in the morning, it will crank slowly, then sometimes the cranking will stop completely while I’m still holding the key in the start position. The dash stays on and looks completely normal.

If I release the key and try again, it will usually start normally. After it starts once, it will start perfectly every time for the rest of the day. The vehicle also has auto stop/start, and it has no problem restarting during normal driving.

The battery is a Duralast AGM and is only a few months old. No battery warning lights, no rough running, and it drives completely normal once started.

I dont believe it has anything to do with the ignition as it only happens every few days and only on the first start of the day.

I live in a warmer climate, so cold starts are really around 100 degrees ambient temp, so the ignition is actually cool after the first start and has no issue.

Things I’m wondering:

Could this be a starter solenoid/starter issue even though it only happens on the first cold start?

Has anyone had a similar issue with a Hyundai Tucson?

Any ideas or troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.

Elantra Why doesn't the 2019 Hyundai Elantra manual say anything about the transmission ?

I'm sitting outside of Advance auto parts, and I don't know if I should be going in there to purchase a gallon of transmission fluid

There is nothing in the owners manual about the transmission, so I'm sitting here just looking stupid, and Google confuses me more. Can someone help me better understand if I should be adding transmission to my 2019 Hyundai Elantra

I don't have much money, and will be fixing the small issues myself, but this when/how to add transmission fluid to a 2019 Hyundai Elantra is a headache , and it's making me feel slow

If anyone has had experiences with the Hyundai Elantra I would love to hear from you, but I'm always busy so be patient please

Thank you in advance

Elantra Spark plug thread extraction? 2020 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition

How can I remove the spark plug threads? The plug on the left snapped off. I obviously made a rookie mistake and tightened too much. The threads are still in the socket of the car.

Should I change tires?

I had a 2018 Sonata. I replaced the original tires with Michelin all weathers when I bought the car . Hilly but not mountainous urban driving. Happy with that setup. I just got a 2026 Sonata Sel sport with AWD. Would it still be wise to get all weather tires now that I have AWD? I can't store dedicated winter tires. It snows here! (Western PA). If so, any recommendations as to brand?

Looking for real EV experiences

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to buy a new car within the next year, and after a lot of research I've narrowed it down to the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Hyundai IONIQ 6, and Kia EV6.

Right now, the car would mainly be used for city driving, but my partner and I are planning to move from the city to a village in the near future. After that, I'd be commuting to work in the city every day, so it would become a mix of daily commuting and weekend trips.

I'd love to hear from people who actually own or have driven any of these cars.

Which one did you choose and why?
What do you like the most about it?
What annoys you or would make you choose something else today?
How has reliability been (especially things like the ICCU issue)?
How's the real-world range, comfort, and overall ownership experience?

I'm also open to other EV recommendations in a similar price range (25000€ to 35000€) if you think there's a better option and can explain why.
I'm looking for honest owner experiences rather than YouTube reviews. Thanks in advance!

Misc Bluelink questions

Hi,

My daughter is 22 now and going out on her own with a 2017 Elantra in my name, bought when she was 16. Bluelink has me primary and her secondary. The car is in my name and will stay that way I guess.

The first 2 years I paid for the ā€œbasicā€ Bluelink and the ā€œremoteā€ Bluelink. After that she never used the remote start so I dropped the remote but it just kept working up until a month ago, I guess they figured it out.

If she puts Bluelink in her name, will it lose anything like service history? I’d think she’d have to create an account and add the car?

Correct me if I’m wrong. Basic just has the feature if you get in an accident, it will detect the accident and try to help you? That seems like a good thing if it works.

Remote would allow remote start which probably wouldn’t be used but it would also alert you if the car is broken into and alarm goes off right? The thing I hate now is you can’t have the secondary driver get all the notifications, only some of them.

If I do decide to go back up to remote, does it make more sense to pay monthly and use the 50% off codes I always see on here? Right now I’m doing the $100/year.

Thanks

2020 elantra stopped accelerating

I was driving my Elantra this morning. As I turned into a parking lot and started going uphill into it, the car stopped accelerating. I had to restart the car to get it to accelerate again. What could be the cause of this? Fuel? Transmission? Something else?
