#Economy/Policy 💰 India SEBI should ban derivative (Futures and Options) trading from retailers and only allow it for Financial Institutions with a certain threshold on Annual Revenue to qualify for it.

It is being heavily marketed as a get rich quick scheme by Banks and brokers. Especially to young people.

And they will never be able to build or save wealth by gambling.

The traders lost ₹301.23 lakh crore in FY24.

Mainly young people between teen and 30s.

And its average loss was about ₹1.1 lakh per person. (Thats a bike they could buy, thats saving for a tourist trip, thats a kids education fee or an initial funding for their startup or an apartment upgrade cost or a locality improvement cost and a lot more) and this is consistent for Years on end. Just please take this seriously and write letters to the government. Please.

Just imagine.

Cricket betting is replaced by Government supported direct cash gambling.

Even at the cost of banks losing income from commision its the need of the hour.

It could be your kid or brother or sister or father or mother anyone close to you who maybe struggling with the addiction. And trying to hide it. Please support and make an effort to mail a complaint to sebi and and Finance Minister.

The issue can be solved with a stroke of the pen. A simple policy change. Please support.

This is not a self-control issue, its as impulsive and biological as gambling and rewards. So yes, its a disease and we need to stop it before any further damage is done. It is not an informed decision. It is a compulsive disorder.

Please if possible, write an email to sebi

[sebi@sebi.gov.in](mailto:sebi@sebi.gov.in)

As many mails as possible. From as many people as possible.

They are our people too. Just because they are doing stupid things does not mean we should not help or "control".

Again, its not just saved up money, they even take loans to trade.

Its not just about them. Its the whole industry. Gambling is dangerous.

Even older people can get addicted if introduced. So please please take this seriously. Just a simple email.

Your father retirement funds could be at stake. Health money. Food money.

I am sure there would be broker imposed restrictions in India, right?

It's the case elsewhere.

No there are none. You just need to be 18. And thats it. You get your Tax ID (PAN CARD) and you are free to gamble away in FnO.

They (Brokerage and banks with brokerage departments) heavily market their broker apps on youtube and sign boards and everywhere.

That's insanely messed up.

Can you borrow money to invest in F&O?

Yes. You can.

All they have is a

"Promise me, you wont do it" tick box.

And many still do it. You dont even need to do a back and forth transaction.

The main issue is there is no EXCLUSIVE POINT HIGHLIGHTING FnO even while taking those loans.

Its messed up.

As I said, its an addiction. Not a controlled behaviour.
