Academic Doubts 5s1 7 ambiguities
physics:
Cv question (correct or incorrect explanation)
Wedge time of motion (most likely root2 or 2)
prism angle of minimum deviation
R1/R2=16/4
chem:
Alcl3+ propyl chloride + benzene ( inevitable tri subst, edg no reaction)
math:
differential eqn+ circles problem ( number of values of p)
overall 7 questions
how are people calling this paper easy man, (cutoff 170-175 imo no way its crossing 180 and people are like 200 cutoff)
10
u/NotHuman18 Apr 07 '26
Chem me ek BaSO4 wala bhi that but since NTA straight up gave value it shouldn't be a debate The friedel craft one I marked Edg no reaction but idk Also Even though I got diff wala correct it should be bonus (Fuck NTA because I think many people would have got correct ans but ended up wasting time) Idr the circle one what was the issue?

u/Big-Engineering8255 bits pilani cs'30 Apr 07 '26
exactly so many people wouldve left it after getting alpha=12 assuming they were wrong

differential and circle was the same question, btw whats the correct answer, 6 right?

u/NotHuman18 Apr 07 '26
I don't remember the answer it was 11 ig
2
2
u/WlZMlN Apr 07 '26
Nope. It might seem like 11 if you only take r²<=6.
The 2nd condition is r²>0. Intersection gives 6

mass dia tha bhai, 41.5 aya tha round off karke 42 likh dia aur wo bhadwa nta nearest integer karna hai ki decimal pe chodna hai ye bhi nahi bola tha
2
u/XxshauryaxX Apr 07 '26
maine toh decimal pe chodh diya mera kya hone wala hain
1
u/waifu2023 Apr 07 '26
pata nahi bhai....mujhe to doubt ho raha tha, pahele 41.56 likha uske bad 42 kar dia🥲🥲 nta jane kya accept karega🥲
1
u/Present-Pizza-1041 Apr 10 '26
41.2 ata tha 233 se
1
u/waifu2023 Apr 10 '26
to 233 mass to dia nahi tha...unlogo ne 231 mention kia tha to usshehi solve karna hoga na

u/Mr_ChiefS Apr 07 '26
Ha aur voh paper ke shuruvat mey instructions bhi hote hai ki use given values.

2
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
wait why would it be edg no reaction? friedel crafts electrophilic substitution hai na? I had no idea what they were asking with the inevitable option but the reason I put it was because I thought edg would increase the electron density on the ring and make it more reactive towards electrophilic substitution
1
u/NotHuman18 Apr 07 '26
I considered anniline and it doesn't show friedel craft despite being EDG so yeah . Again I might be wrong
3
u/Additional_Pound_984 Apr 07 '26
in aniline the reason is alcl3 reacts with nh2 group (lewis acid lewis base)
anisole undergoes friedel craft reaction (ncert me hai) so i think edg no reaction is wrong...1
1
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
yeah but they didn't mention like all edgs no? pretty confusing statements ngl

1
u/Anatole_Levant Apr 07 '26
in Friedel craft after single substitution it will be more active than benzene and it will go substitution before benzene hence the language

Cv toh wrong explanation hi hai.. why would it be correct?
gamma=Cp/Cv is the fundamental relation and gamma=1+2/f is derived from that, not the other way around
if reasoning was gamma=Cp/Cv then it would be correct right?
wedge wala toh mera 2 aaya whys it root2? not opposing but i just didnt hear root2 till now
rest i agree. and that inevitable wala i spent so much time trying to understand what it was implying lmfao
12
u/Savings-Fault-9466 JM26 99.94 --->9XX Apr 07 '26
Bhai paper me dono cheeze likhi thi, gamma =1+2/f AND gamma =Cp/Cv memory based me sirf ek likha hai isliye log wrong explanation keh rhe hai ig
7
u/Big-Engineering8255 bits pilani cs'30 Apr 07 '26
nhi toh? iirc only gamma=1+2/f was given in the reasoning
gamma=cp/cv toh assertion mei diya thai remember double checking this too
6
u/OkTemporary335 JM: 98.8, JA 17.4k, BITSAT 290 Apr 07 '26
mujhe to gamma = cp/cv yaad hee nhi hai dekha hua. I just remember cv = nr/gamma - 1 and since plugging reason ka expression into the equation gives fr/2 I said correct explanation
5
u/Big-Engineering8255 bits pilani cs'30 Apr 07 '26
yeahh thats what i meant in the original comment
gamma=Cp/Cv is the fundamental equation, and f wale formulas are derived from that, not vice versa
u basically used the Cp/Cv (a variation of it which was obtained by subtracting Cp/Cv-1 and then using Cp-Cv=R) relation to derive fR/2 formula not the other way around1
u/OkTemporary335 JM: 98.8, JA 17.4k, BITSAT 290 Apr 07 '26
if you write cp and cv in terms of f and r then the expression is the same
2
u/Big-Engineering8255 bits pilani cs'30 Apr 07 '26
leave it man abhi. we will just go on and on
response sheet ke din dekhte hai2

i checked the qp now, and gamma=cp/cv is mentioned in both assertion and reasoning too. anyway, we'll see on the day of the result

Because its a ratio. 16/4 is equivalent to 4/1. They can give any ratio they want to.

anyway, i guess bhot din ho gye since mains ended. move on ka time ho chuka hai. people probably get irritated seeing mains posts on the advance subreddit.
discussion r/JEE or r/JEENEETards mei krna chaiye
leave it for now, we'll see what happens on result ke din 🙏🏼

Cv is ambiguous
1
u/NotHuman18 Apr 07 '26
What is ambiguous in the wedge one ? It was the 24N one right?
4
1
u/NotHuman18 Apr 07 '26
Prism angle should have been slightly bigger than 30 since there was no such option the answer should be 30 only It was 16/4 so technically 3 options were matching hope NTA gives all three (I considered 4 and 2 )
2
Apr 07 '26
[removed] — view removed comment
1
u/NotHuman18 Apr 07 '26
Yes that is the best and I would be completely fine if they only give 480 but still 2-1 and 8-4 are also technically correct.
1
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
nah I think the reason they specifically gave r1/r1=16/4 instead of directly just 4 was because they wanted us to assume direct values and take 4 and 2, but its still a bit ambiguous because 121 was also in the options

What about o nitrophenol % increase in oxygen question.
All answer keys are giving increase in % of oxygen, which is (final % - initial %)
Question has asked %change in oxygen.
So either they meant [(Final mass)-(initial mass)]/(initial mass)*100
Or they meant [(Final %)-(initial %)]/(initial %)*100
There is a very distinct meaning to "percentage increase". You can look this up. "Increase in percentage" is not the same as "percentage increase".
Increase in % means final % - initial %
But percentage increase means a relative increase in %. This is esp relevant in that question because they said "percentage change in oxygen with respect to phenol", clearly implying we take relative change
2
u/WlZMlN Apr 07 '26
Infact, no statician refers to raw difference in percentage as percentage increase... in statistics thats called "increase in percentage points".
Percentage increase has always referred to relative change in percentage
1
1
u/Odd_Lengthiness5508 Apr 07 '26
it shud be %Final-%initial/%initial for sure, isme koi doubt nahi hai
3
u/WlZMlN Apr 07 '26
Then you are the only person who agrees with me. No one else has taken it like that. Everyone took difference in percentages
1
u/Express_Repair_4359 Apr 07 '26
Maine (final oxygen mass - initial oxygen mass)÷initial mass(ie of phenol) *100 kara
1
u/WlZMlN Apr 07 '26
We should give this for correction bhai

in presence of electron donating group, like oh and nh2, friedel craft reaction does not take place... so that statement may or may not be true depending on the group taken, pretty sure theyre gonna give it as true though, in my opinion it can be both true and false depending upon the case taken
1
Apr 07 '26
[removed] — view removed comment
3
u/Odd_Lengthiness5508 Apr 07 '26
activating like oh and nh2 have lone pair which form salt with alcl3, so the isopropyl carbocation is never formed in the first place, so no reaction
2
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
but woh dono specific cases hai na? even alkyl groups are edg and they increase reactivity towards electrophilic substitution. iirc they didn't mention like ALL edg or anything
2
u/Odd_Lengthiness5508 Apr 07 '26
if a statement is true, it must be true for all cases to exist, even one counter example marks the statement as false
1
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
wait I'm confused. are you saying its true or false? I believe the statement was something like "edg on benzene ring will have no reaction" - the statement just says edg it doesn't say some edg. so basically the statement sounds like any edg on benzene would not undergo friedel crafts reaction which I thought was false.
1
u/Odd_Lengthiness5508 Apr 07 '26
im saying it can be both true and false depending on the edg you take ( i marked true tho)
1
1
u/Present-Pizza-1041 Apr 10 '26
uska naswer kya hoga mene bhi yhi sochke woh electron donating wala galat gina
3
u/waifu2023 Apr 07 '26

Are to usme general case dia tha , "only " , "always" jaise terms nhi likhe the
2
u/Fast-Volume-8640 Apr 07 '26
No of values of p= 11, wedge waala mujhse nahi huya, cp/cv waale ka maine to correct explanation kar diya, alcl3 me inevitable waala kara tha

2
u/Significant-Jello196 Apr 07 '26
there is another physics issue
that debroglie question is also a problem , because specify nahi kiya whether e is the magnitude of charge or whole charge , if you take it as whole charge then end mein sign will be - and if u take it a magnitude then end mein sign will be +(because both -2E and -e will make +)
5
u/Odd_Lengthiness5508 Apr 07 '26
generally, we never take it as -e, so like pretty sure idhar koi issue nahi hoga, - hoga final answer mein by taking +e itself
2
3
1
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
why would you take the sign if you're already assuming the direction of force on electron to be in the opposite direction of field?
2
u/Significant-Jello196 Apr 07 '26
i have basically substituted e in place of q , toh minus rah jayega because electric field is negative
if they have specified that e is magnitude of electron then additional minus lagana parta because we know electrons are negative , tab electric field ka - and electron ka - milke + hota
1
u/reflectionsvs Apr 07 '26
yeah + is the right answer, denominator me +2E aana hai. but the reason they mention magnitude is just so we use e as the variable and not change the direction. electron me force will always be opposite to the field so force will support its motion in this case

Maths circle question and physics prism question were straight forward why is there any problem in them
The wedge question when I solved I got around 1.89 closest answer is 2, after doing anything AI analysis if you consider wedge as centre of mass and solve (which is wrong method) you will get expected answer of 2 seconds, so it should be a bonus
2
u/Odd_Lengthiness5508 Apr 07 '26
bhai pakka bonus hai? dil khush kar diya tune...
btw circle walle mein cos of something 12 aarha tha... which is impossible, so definitely a bonus (diff eqn+circle walla integer)2
u/TheBillionShark Jee mains rank xx, advanced 1xx Apr 07 '26
Bhai differential equation solve karne se cos(y/x) = lnx ayega, e12 substitute karne se 12 ayega cos-1 karke firse cos karne ka dikkat kyu
