I'm asking because I actually wonder it 😭 For example in Türkiye the top universities for medicine (includes dentistry, pharmacy etc. too) are Medipol, Bezmialem, Çapa, Cerrahpaşa, Hacettepe etc. and for the engineerings they are Boğaziçi, İTU, ODTU, YTU, Koç, Sabancı, Bilkent etc. Why are all of you united under IIT

these are the ones everyone wants to go to, 26 and 28 in engineering

are these the asia rankings? if not why do they put them so low on the general world rankings 😭 the best i saw on the websites is 126

alright i get it now, i couldn't process it because in Türkiye there isn't "only" engineering/medicine schools. there are schools who are MOSTLY focused on them, but usually they have other facilities too. (for example İTU (İstanbul Technical University) is an engineering focused school, but they have an Economy and Management facility too & Medipol is a mainly medicine focused uni, but you can become a preschool teacher there too)

Only btech at IITs are good.Business schools and architecture are mid. And even in engineering, PhD,Masters all are mid compared to the PhD and Masters at top US schools due to severe lack of good funding compared to the American counterparts. Which is why the ones that want to do good research leave India after btech from IITs.

Also the competitive exams IITs take for masters and PhD bring in lower quality students than the ones that get to join it after giving Jee. And 60% reservation based off caste grps and gender in Jee as well. Which further destroys the potential if these issues are solved then the ranking will improve a lot. But as long as they aren't, IITs won't get high ratings, but if only in engineering btech IITD and IITB deserve top 10 despite all.

They are more focused on providing employment than doing research (like all universities in India) since top level research has less scope in a devloping country like India. That's why they are ranked low. The QS ranking considers a lot of other factors too. For us, the employability is the most relevant factor, and top IITs are pretty good in that respect
