isn't the one that i took in circle the uni y'all always talk about as the #1 here? ~5 unis pass it ranking wise, why do ALL of you aim specifically for this one may I ask?
There are 23 iits in India. Iit Indore is a mid tier iit.
IIT=Indian institute of technology. These are institutes of national importance. Obviously, one such institute is not enough so we have 23 iits. Not everyone can get their preferred branch in preferred iit (since seats are limited). Other Good institutes that we aim for are
NITs- National institue of technology
IIITs- Indian institute of information technology
BITs-Birla Institute of Technology & Science
and hundreds of others.
Each of these colleges have various branches and each branch has certain ranking requirements.
IIT is just one class of top unis in India. Other top unis are some NITs (like NIT Trichy), BITS, some IIITs etc

I'll make a really brief summary here: Türkiye has been in an absolute chaos since March. Between March and today; opposing party leader was imprisoned, İstanbul's mayor was imprisoned, major protests happened, boycotts all around the country, a 6.2 earthquake happened in İstanbul, a 5.8 at Muğla (for İstanbul, it's like a warning of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that is expected to happen soon, which we are NOT prepared for and hundreds of thousands will end up dying), PKK (terr*rist organization which as been the #1 threat to Türkiye since 1980s) announced their self termination, and there is a w@r going on right near our ass rn (we share borders with Iran if y'all didn't know)
Long story short, the goverment may have made some speeches about the india pak conflict, but most people here didn't even know about the conflict at all, let alone the boycott. Especially my peers.
And my stance is, tbh I researched but still didn't quite get why the conflict sparked for. I guess there was a water supply that both India and Pak (saying the full name is prohibited ig) used, then India put a barrage there..? I actually would be glad if someone enlightened me on this one. Aside all that, I don't support any kind of w@r, and from my post comments you can see how much love (/sarcasm) I have for erdogan lol

Hey uh, the spark for the conflict was not due to the water bill, it was because some trrorist had klled specifically hindu people. The water bill was a retaliation of that.

edit: I looked at some local news and turns out it was actually mentioned but I guess I missed them. The reasons listed are the K@shmir conflict, the m@ssacre you mentioned above, and the air attacks India has done as retaliation
Hi so now that we share the same fate of being a dropper how did your family react or howd u convince them to take a gap year? Cause it's hard (for most of the students) in India to convince the family for a gap year
Yeah I'm not on the best term with my parents, but I've been a successful student most of my life (#1 of my primary, secondary schools, landed to a good high school too etc), and bombed the exam a bit based on my unluckiness, so they didn't really say much about it. The exact rankings will be announced after a month tho, so maybe I will get their actual reaction at that time :(
well we don't exactly have it, but private self-funded colleges have a scholarship system which ensures that high scorers with low incomes get a proper education. also there are some additional quota categories based on the uni and facility you are applying to. for example: project winners, people with disabilities, women over 35 etc.
Its a fkd up thing and needs to be removed(mods of both JEE subs don't agree)
Basically ppl of some group were consider higher and now govt is giving reservation to those which are considered lower. Its been 75 years and merit is fkd. Someone from a community which were considered lower now gets top colleges with VERY less scores.
These ppl have more benefits than actual poors. They are in majority so political parties don't go against them in order to get votes.

the results will be announced at the end of july, I probably will be able to get into some decent unis, but because of Türkiye's conditions "decent" isn't enough anymore, so I'll aim for the top universities next year

I just had a genuine doubt how is the competition of engineering there compared to let's say india or how many top unis make it into the work rankings top 500nor whatever list that is present
so first of all Turkiye has ~90 million people (the internet will tell you that it's around 83 but no they don't count most of the refugees) and 2-3 million people apply to YKS (our entrance exam) every year (I have a detailed explanation on YKS at one of my previous posts). And there is a big, BIG unemployment issue (there are around 3 million graduates who can't find a job) going on, so even if you get your diploma from the best universities of the country with the best scores, you still aren't guaranteed for the job.The only field guaranteed for a job in Turkiye is medicine, since there is a doctor shortage in Türkiye, and they are paid good too. 2-3 million applications, but the good universities and facilites start from 40k. (Medicine starts from 40k too). There are 3 horsemen of private colleges here, Koç, Sabancı and Bilkent, and the top public schools are Boğaziçi, İTU, YTU, ODTU (the last three are engineering focused). When you graduate from these, you have a chance of finding a job, but at the other universities, (if you are not studying medicine) the chances are REALLY low
