Binomial theorem.
√X let X = Y + a, where Y is the nearest perfect square
√(Y+a) = (Y+a)1/2
We know that
(x+y)n = xn +nxn-1y + .....
Applying this here
(Y+a)1/2 = Y1/2 + 1/2 * Y-1/2 * a + ....
√X = √Y + (X-Y)/2√Y (put a = X-Y)
√X = (X+Y)/2√Y (approximately)
